San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO – Mar. 30, 2004 – The San Antonio Rampage are proud to announce that Josh Olson has been named the team's winner of the American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the San Antonio community and charitable organizations during the 2003-04 season.

As a professional hockey player, Olson has poised himself with class both on and off the ice. Outside the rink, he is the first to step up and volunteer his efforts and likeness to community events—especially when it comes to children. Josh is an active participant in the organization's Road Show, a grassroots street hockey program that offers children an opportunity to play hockey without the ice. He has read to children in numerous classrooms and helped in serving the less fortunate on Thanksgiving Day at the 24th Annual Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner—San Antonio's biggest Thanksgiving Day tradition.

On the ice, his commitment to excellence has rewarded him with his first call up to the National Hockey League where he scored a goal in his first NHL game with the Florida Panthers in Montreal on March 11. Olson became the seventh Panther to score in his first NHL game with his goal at 1:40 in the third period, putting Florida ahead 2-1 en route to a 3-2 overtime victory.

In recognition of his efforts, Olson will be presented with an etched crystal trophy during an on-ice presentation prior to an upcoming home game.

Olson is now one of 28 finalists for the 2003-04 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year. The league award, named after the former Hershey Bears forward who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia, will be presented during the Calder Cup 2004 Final.
