HERSHEY – The HERSHEY BEARS announced today in conjunction with the American Hockey League that Brett Clark has been named the team's winner of the American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the central Pennsylvania community and charitable organizations during the 2003-04 season.

In addition to being one of the most durable players in the American Hockey League, Clark has freely given his time in both the Hershey community and throughout central Pennsylvania. During the 2003-04 season, he was part of a group that visited Hershey Elementary School to read to school age children. He also visited the children's ward at Hershey Medical Center during the holidays and helped the team give Christmas presents that might not have otherwise had presents to open during the holidays.

In recognition of his efforts, Clark will be presented with an etched crystal trophy during an on-ice presentation prior to a future BEARS home game.

Clark is now one of 28 finalists for the 2003-04 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year. The league award, named after the former BEARS forward who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia, will be presented during the Calder Cup 2004 Final.
