Wednesday, December 31

Toledo 3 @ Wheeling 9

Wheeling played their 12th consecutive New Year's Eve and improved their record to 8-1-3, Wheeling is now 8-1-2 at home on New Year's Eve. Toledo scored the first goal of the game at 10:57 of the first period to take a 1-0 lead. The Nailers tied the game 1-1 on a Jason Jaffray power play goal at 14:20. Before the first period ended the Storm reclaimed the lead 2-1. In the second period the Nailers got four goals, two on the power play, to take a 5-2 lead. Wheeling scored three more times in the first half of the third period to go up 8-2. Toledo scored their final goal of the game at 13:14 of the final period, but the Nailers responded with one more for the 9-3 lead and win. Nick Boucher made 21 saves on 24 shots for the win

Friday, January 2

Toledo 0 @ Wheeling 5

Nick Boucher made 16 saves against the Storm to record his third shutout of the season. The Nailers scored three first period goals to take a 3-0 lead on Toledo. Jason Jaffray scored the first at 4:39 from Jake Ortmeyer and J.C. Ruid. Brendon Hodge gave Wheeling a 2-0 lead at 11:27 and Ruid scored the third goal at 12:09. Ruid and Jaffray both tallied their second goal of the game in the third period to close out the scoring. The Nailers out shot the Storm 43-16 in the game.

Saturday, January 3

Dayton 1 @ Wheeling 5

The Nailers improved their record against the Bombers to 5-0-0 with the win. Dayton scored a power play goal at 5:33 of the first period to take a 1-0 lead over the Nailers. Wheeling responded by scored a power play goal and two even strength goals to take a 3-1 lead through one period. Mario Larocque scored the power play goal with J.C. Ruid and Jason Jaffray scoring the next two. Mark Kosick and Jason Jaffray each scored a third period power play goal to close the scoring. Nick Boucher made 24 saves on 25 shots for the win.

Sunday, January 4

Wheeling 5 @ Dayton 2

This game was the first the Nailers played on the road since December 13, also in Dayton. The Nailers scored three second period goals, two power play and one shorthanded, to take a 3-0 lead. Dayton cut the Nailers lead to 3-2 with a pair of early third period goals, one on a power play. The Nailers scored their third power play goal of the game and an empty net goal to close the scoring. Nick Boucher made 27 saves on 29 shots for the win.

Record for week: 4-0-0, 8 points

Record for season: 23-9-2, 48 pts.

Defenseman Jake Ortmeyer is on a five game point scoring streak with seven assists in that span...Jason Jaffray, J.F. Dufour and J.C. Ruid are all on four game point scoring streaks...Nick Boucher is on a four game-winning streak and is unbeaten in his last eight starts, 7-0-1...Jaffray is tied for second in the ECHL in scoring with 46 points (19 goals, 27 assists), Dufour is tied for sixth with 41 points (16 goals, 25 assists), Ruid is tied for 18th with 35 points (13 goals, 22 assists)...Boucher is 14th among goaltenders with a 2.46 goals against average and is tied for fifth in wins with 14.

Friday, January 9

Reading @ Wheeling 7:30p.m.

The Nailers host the Royals for the third time this season. It will be the fourth game between these two Northern Division rivals with the Nailers winning the first three games. This game will be the fifth of eight Season Ticket Holder Ticket Redemption Nights.

Saturday, January 10

Wheeling @ Cincinnati 7:30p.m.

The Nailers have played the Cyclones twice this season, both games in Cincinnati, and are 1-1-0 for the year.

Sunday, January 11

Reading @ Wheeling 2:00p.m.

The Nailers close their three game weekend with their second home game against the Royals. The Nailers will play the Royals four more times this season after this game, three times in Reading.

Nailers Player of the Week:

The Nailers Player of the Week is Jason Jaffray. Jaffray had 14 points on seven goals and seven assists in four games last week. He had four power play goals and one game-winning goal. Jaffray also played at a +6 in the +/- category.

Nailers Goaltender of the Week:

The Nailers Goaltender of the Week is Nick Boucer. Boucher went 4-0-0 in four games last week, including his third shutout of the season on Friday against Toledo. He made 88 saves on 94 shots for a .936 save percentage. He gave up six goals in four games for a 1.50 goals against average.
