Clones Near Halfway Mark of Season

The Cyclones look to return to the winning track this weekend after dropping a 3-0 decision to the Dayton Bombers on Friday. The Clones next game is set for Friday in Johnstown. The Clones return home on Saturday to face the Wheeling Nailers. This week's games are the 34th and 35th of the 2003-04 season.

Friday, January 2-Cincinnati 0 at Dayton 3

The Clones suffered their fourth shutout of the season on Friday night in Dayton. Despite peppering Dayton netminder Bujar Amidovski with 35 shots on the evening, the Clones were never able to dent the twine. Amidovski recorded his first shutout of the season in the victory. Olivier Proulx opened the scoring for the Bombers with his eighth goal of the season at the 11:59 mark of the first period. Former Cyclone Fraser Clair scored at the 18:08 mark of the first to lengthen the Dayton lead to 2-0. Janne Jokila scored the game's final goal at the 3:09 mark of the second. With the loss, the Clones fall to 4-3-1 this season vs. the Bombers.

This Week

Friday, January 9-Cincinnati at Johnstown

The Clones revisit the site of their worst loss this season on Friday. The Clones dropped a 6-1 decision to the Chiefs on opening weekend. Brent Kelly and P.L. Courchesne scored a pair each in the win. Since that loss, the Clones have won two straight vs. the Chiefs at U.S. Bank Arena. Randy Petruk downed Arturs Irbe in a shootout on November 15th at the arena on the river. After each goalie allowed a single marker in regulation, Petruk stopped six of seven J-town shootout shooters to secure the victory. The Clones set a team high with six goals in their last meeting with J-town.

The Clones trounced the Chiefs 6-2 in Cincinnati on December 10th. Tyler Deis and Jade Galbraith each scored a pair of goals while Terry Marchant and Jeremy Bachusz contributed solo markers. Reagan Rome, Garrett Prosofsky and Scott Cameron each added a pair of assists in the win.

Saturday, January 10-Wheeling at Cincinnati

The Clones meet the Nailers for the third time this season at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday. The teams have split their first two meetings this fall.

In the teams' first meeting, on November 5th at U.S. Bank Arena, the Clones downed the Nailers 4-1. Jason Norrie, Derrick Byfuglien, Josh Harrold and Connor Dunlop each scored in the win. Randy Petruk earned second star honors in the game after stopping 29 of 30 Nailers shots. The teams' second meeting, on December 5th produced a shootout as the Nailers prevailed 5-4. Garrett Prosofsky scored twice while Harrold and Norrie added solo markers. The Clones make their first trip to Wheeling next week for a pair of games on January 16th and 17th.

Clones to Watch

-The Clones outshot the Bombers 35-27 last Friday night. With the loss, the Clones fall to 6-8-1 when outshooting opponents.

-Dean Stork is the only Clone on the active roster that hasn't scored a goal this season. Stork has seven assists while playing in all 33 Clones games.

-Stork joins Mark Concannon, Ryan Brindley and Terry Marchant as the only Clones to play all 33 games.

- Terry Marchant became the first Clone to record 100 shots after recording a pair of shots on Friday in Dayton.

-Garrett Prosofsky was the only Clone to enjoy a multiple goal game through the team's first 18 contests. Since then, nine different Clones have had multiple goal games in the last 15 outings. Prosofsky leads the team with four multiple goal games.

-Josh Harrold was placed on the injured reserve on Friday after sustaining a head injury on December 27th in Peoria.
