Las Vegas Wranglers News Release


Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers concluded a five-game road trip going 2-2-1. Las Vegas fell 3-2 in a shootout at Idaho last Tuesday night. The Wranglers lost 3-1 at Idaho last Wednesday night. Las Vegas won 5-3 in Long Beach on Friday. The Wranglers followed up with a 5-2 loss in San Diego on Saturday.

This week Las Vegas will start a five-game home stand. The Wranglers host Fresno on Tuesday and Texas on Wednesday. The Peoria Rivermen will come to town for a two-game set with the Wranglers Friday and Saturday. All games at the Orleans Arena will start at 7:05 pm.

Las Vegas 2 at Idaho 3 SO

Boise,ID -The Las Vegas Wranglers lost 3-2 in a shootout to the Idaho Steelheads. Idaho's Andrei Vasilyev picked up a goal, an assist and the game-winning shootout goal leading the Steelheads. Dan Ellis stopped all four Las Vegas shooters in the shootout and made 18 saves in regulation for the win. The Wranglers fell to 1-4 in shootouts this season. Las Vegas' Chris Kenady and Jason McBain each scored in regulation. Marc Magliarditi took the shootout loss stopping three of four in the shootout and 39 shots in regulation. Idaho's Jan Kopecky also scored for the Steelheads.

Wednesday, December 31st

Las Vegas 1 at Idaho 3

Boise, ID – The Las Vegas Wranglers fell 3-1 in Idaho on Wednesday night. Idaho's Derek Paget scored twice and Chris Slater added a goal as the Steelheads tied the Wranglers for first place in the Pacific Division. Chris Kenady scored the lone Wranglers goal as Las Vegas moved to 1-1-1 on their five-game road trip. Blair Allison picked up the win for Idaho stopping 29 Wranglers shots. Marc Magliarditi took the loss, stopping 25 Steelheads shots. The two teams combined for 89 minutes in penalties.

Friday, January 2nd

Las Vegas 5 at Long Beach 3

Long Beach, CA – The Las Vegas Wranglers beat the Long Beach Ice Dogs 5-3 Friday night to reclaim sole possession of first place. Tom Nelson scored two goals and Chris Kenady added three assists as the Wranglers improved to 6-7-4 on the road this year. Jason McBain, Ryan Christie and Dave Cousineau each scored in the win. Las Vegas goalie Marc Magliarditi picked up his 14th win of the year stopping 38 Ice Dogs shots. The Wranglers moved to 2-1-1 on their five-game road trip.

Saturday, January 3rd

Las Vegas 2 at San Diego 5

San Diego, CA – The Las Vegas Wranglers ended their road trip with a 5-2 defeat in San Diego. Four Gulls' players posted multi-point games led by Mark Pederson who posted two goals and one assist. Billy Tibbetts and Sylvain Deschatelets each contributed three assists in the win. Doug Wright and Tom Nelson scored for the Wranglers who fell to 3-2 against the Gulls this season. Marc Magliarditi gave up a season-high five goals on 41 San Diego shots. Las Vegas wrapped up their five-game road trip with a 2-2-1 record.

Fresno Falcons – (10-19-3) – LV leads Series 2-0-0

Las Vegas won last meeting 6-3 in Fresno. Defenseman Drew Schoneck's -23 rating is among the worst in the ECHL.

Texas Wildcatters – (9-21-3) – First Game of Series

Two road wins is tied for a league low. Wildcatters 4.09 goals against average is worst in the ECHL

Peoria Rivermen – (18-8-7) – First Game of Series

Peoria has the league's best road record at 10-3-4 (.706). Peoria leads the ECHL with nine shorthanded goals for.
