
Gators Ring in New Year with 3-1 Record

Louisiana IceGators News Release
The IceGators eneded the old year with two wins over the Southern Conference leading Columbia Inferno. They rang in the New Year on the road, with tilts against the Columbus Cottonmouths and the Mississippi SeaWolves, which the Gators split 1-1.
Tuesday, December 30th, the IceGators put up 6 goals on the Inferno, with Kenny Corupe and Dennis Shiryaev both tallying 2 goals and an assist. Ed McGrane added his second goal and sixth assist as an IceGator to the tally. Wednesday, December 31st saw the IceGators triumphant again, as four different Gators scored and Derek Gustafson stopped 30 of 31 shots on goal to give the IceGators the New Year's Eve win.
The first game of the road trip was Friday, January 2nd against the Columbus Cottonmouths. The first game of IceGators game of 2004 did not have the outcome they might have liked. The Cottonmouths shut out the Gators 6-0. Frederic Cloutier made 37 saves for the IceGators, but down at the other end of the ice, Kristian Antila was able to keep the puck out of the net for the Cottonmouths.
The Mississippi SeaWolves played host to the Gators Saturday, January 3rd. The Gators improved their record to 5-2 this season against the team from Biloxi with a 3-1 win. Neither team scored in the first period, but Gator Bobby Brown broke the game open in the second with his 17th goal of the year. Armands Berzins knocked in his fourth of the year for the game-winner and Dennis Shiryaev tallied a goal and an assist.

Mississippi SeaWolves â January 10, 2004 @ 7:05 pm â
The IceGators host the SeaWolves in the first game of Pride in America Weekend. After a morning blood drive, the Gators will skate against their division archrival. The Gators are 5-2-0 against the SeaWolves this season.
Pensacola IcePilots â January 11, 2004 @ 4:05pm â
The Gators welcome the team from Pensacola to the Frozen Swamp for their seventh tilt this season. The IceGators will wear their Pride in America jersey for the second time this weekend, as they look to improve their 3-1-2 record against the IcePilots.
PROMOTIONS
January 10, 2004 â Pride in America:
A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be used to buy supplies for Acadiana's troops overseas. The IceGators will host a blood drive from 10:30 a.m. â 2:30 p.m. at the Cajundome. All those who donate blood will receive a free ticket to that night's game.
January 11, 2004 â Pride in America:
A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be used to buy supplies for Acadiana's troops overseas. The IceGators will auction off the Pride in America jerseys worn during Pride in America weekend. Post-game, the players will sign autographs on the ice.
The Month of January, 2004 â Acadiana Proud Project:
Bring supplies for Acadiana's troops overseas and receive $2 off any game ticket for any game in January. A list of supplies is available at www.icegators.com.

Second and Loving It:
As of Monday, January 5, 2004, the IceGators are second in the Central Division standings with 46 points (22-9-2). Louisiana went into Saturday's game against Mississippi tied with the SeaWolves at 44 points. The Gators broke the tie with a 3-1 win and are now one point behind the first place Gwinnett Gladiators.
Injury Report:
Left wing Brian Herbert has been placed on seven-day injured reserve. Center Kenny Corupe has been placed on thirty-day injured reserve.
Team Leaders:
Kenny Corupe is the Gators' leading scorer, with 37 points (12g-25a). His 25 assists leads the team on helpers and he is also tops on the +/- list with a +10. Bobby Brown is the current goal-scoring leader with 17. Dennis Shiryaev has the honor of being the Gator with the most penalty minutes at 198.
