Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release
Last Weeks Highlights:
12/30/03 > Long Beach 2 @ San Diego 4
The Ice Dogs, trying to win their second straight game in a row on the road for the first time all season, fell short in their 4-2 loss to the Gulls. Nick Ganga and Mark Gouett scored for Long Beach, which lost its fourth straight game to surging San Diego. T.J Aceti made 31 saves in the loss for the Ice Dogs.
1/1/04 > Long Beach 3 @ Fresno 4
The Ice Dogs and Falcons rung in the new year with 210 combined penalty minutes in a game that saw both starting goaltenders get ejected for fighting. The Falcons came out on top in the penalty riddled game by scoring the shorthanded game winner by Blair Clarance. Nick Ganga had a goal and an assist for Long Beach, who dropped their second straight game.
1/2/04 > Long Beach 3 vs. Las Vegas 5
Long Beach lost it's third straight game, and third this season to the Las Vegas Wranglers. Nick Ganga scored in his third straight game and Trevor Read gave the Ice Dogs a 2-1 lead, but a four point night by former Ice Dogs player, Chris Kenady, helped seal the victory for first place Las Vegas. The Ice Dogs out-shot the Wranglers 41-23, but were stoned 38 times by Marc Magliarditi. T.J. Aceti got the loss, while making his sixth start in a row.
1/3/04 > Long Beach 5 vs. Japanese National Team 4 (SO)
The Ice Dogs were taken by a bit of a surprise by the Japanese National Team on Saturday night. It was a 1-1 game through much of the game until Team Japan jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the 3rd period. Trailing by three goals with just over eight minutes to play, the Ice Dogs scored three unanswered goals to tie. T.J. Aceti stopped all four shootout attempts by the Japanese to give Long Beach the exhibition win.
This Weeks' Games:
1/9/04 > Long Beach vs. Texas
On Friday night, Long Beach and Texas will square off for the first meeting ever between the two clubs. The Wildcatters will be the only Central Division opponent the Ice Dogs will face this season. Both teams are looking to pull themselves out of the cellar of their respective divisions. The game will be the first of four meetings this season between the two teams.
1/10/04 > Long Beach vs. Texas
The Ice Dogs and Wildcatters will face each other again Saturday night in a rematch of Friday's game. The teams will play twice more to wrap up the regular season in Beaumont, Texas on April 2 and 3. Saturday will be the second edition of the Spike nesting doll to be given out to the first 2,500 fans in attendance.
1/11/04 > Long Beach vs. Idaho
The Ice Dogs and Steelheads will face each other for the fourth time this season on Sunday. Idaho is 2-0-1 against Long Beach, and this will be the first of three straight games between the two clubs as Long Beach will travel to Idaho next week.
