Hodson Recalled to St. John's

GREENSBORO—Greensboro Generals Head Coach/General Manager Rick Adduono announced today that goaltender Jamie Hodson has been recalled to the St. John's Maple Leafs of the American Hockey League. St. John's is currently tied for fourth place along with Syracuse in the AHL's Northern Division of the Western Conference.

Appearing in six games for the Generals, Jamie was 2-4-0, with 223 saves (92.5%), and allowed just 18 goals for a 3.04 GAA.

Most recently, Hodson rejoined the Greensboro Generals after participating in the 2003 Spengler Cup. Representing his native country, as part of Team Canada's National Team, Hodson missed action with Greensboro from December 26th through December 31st. At the completion of the tournament, with Hodson's stellar play, Team Canada captured gold and defended their title as Spengler Cup champions.

The 6-2, 205 lb. net minder rejoined Adduono in Greensboro last season, where he split time between the Generals and the AHL's St. John's Maple Leafs. While with Greensboro, Jamie was 9-4-1 with a 2.43 GAA, backing up Daniel Berthiaume. Appearing in 22 games for St. John's, where he 8-7-2 with a 3.38 GAA, Hodson also dressed as the emergency goaltender for the Toronto Maple Leafs in three games.

"We wanted him back really badly. Unfortunately Jamie did not get to play in the final game of last year's Cup, however did play in Sweden where he captured bronze. With his knowledge of the international game, and the speed that the players have in the international game, he was one of the guys on my initial list. From the very first game I put him in, he did not let me down, and by the final game I was convinced that he would be the starter for the gold medal game," said Team Canada Head Coach Gary Green.

The first game of the tournament, against Krefeld, Hodson helped to preserve a victory with his spectacular saves, with his most outstanding set of saves coming against the German's Chris Herperger. Following that performance, Hodson would next be in net against Yaroslavl, where he stopped 31 shots on goal in a 6-3 Team Canada victory. In the Gold Medal game of the Spengler Cup, Hodson rose to the occasion with a 47 save performance against HC Davos, as the offensive unit provided seven goals. The 7-4 victory for Team Canada helped to push their all-time record to 13-2-0.
