THE WEEK AHEAD
Thursday, January 8th vs. Roanoke Express 7:30pm Carolina Coliseum
The Inferno is 0-0-2 against the Express this season and 2-0-2 all-time. This is the third of five games between these two teams. Roanoke is in third place in the Southern Division with 40 points (19-13-2).
Friday, January 9th vs. Toledo Storm 7:30pm Carolina Coliseum
The Inferno will play Toledo for the first time in franchise history. Toledo is tied with 27 points for eighth place in the Northern Division (12-16-3).
Saturday, January 10th @ Pensacola Ice Pilots 7:05pm Pensacola Civic Center
This is the first time the Inferno and Ice Pilots face each other in franchise history. Pensacola is in fourth place in the Western Division with 41 points (18-9-5).

Tuesday, December 30th Columbia 4 LOUISIANA 6
The Columbia Inferno battled hard but came up short as the Louisiana IceGators skated away with a 6-4 win. The IceGators opened the scoring with two goals in the first eleven minutes of the first period. Newcomer Trevor Prior at the 11:06 mark of the first period replaced Inferno goaltender Josh Blackburn. Louisiana's Dennis Shiryaev scored at 8:20 of the second period to increase their lead to 3-0. Matt Ulwelling put the Inferno on the board with an unassisted top shelf shot as he exited the penalty box at 12:53. At 19:49, on a 5-on-3 power play, Chris St. Croix brought the Inferno within one goal as he scored his fourth goal of the season with Barrie Moore and Tim Smith on the assists. Moore tied the game for the Inferno at 2:39 of the third period as he walked in on goaltender Frederic Cloutier and scored through the five-hole. The IceGators then scored the next two goals to give them a 5-3 lead over the Inferno. At 13:47, Mike Roemensky scored his third goal of the season as he hopped in from the blue line and scored a low shot past Cloutier to bring the Inferno within one goal. Alex Burrow had the assist. With one minute left in the third period, Coach White pulled goaltender Prior for the extra attacker but the Inferno could not hold on as the IceGators scored an empty net goal.
Wednesday, December 31st Columbia 1 LOUISIANA 4
The Columbia Inferno dropped their second game in a row to the Louisiana IceGators 4-1. Robin Carruthers opened the scoring just 3:03 into the first period for Columbia. Josh Blackburn stopped 41 shots in the loss for the Inferno.
Friday, January 2nd COLUMBIA 4 Mississippi 3 (SO)
The Columbia Inferno beat the Mississippi Seawolves in a shootout as they improve their record to 19-9-4. Mississippi went up 2-0 in the first period with goals by Louis Dumont and Travis Lisabeth. Alex Burrows scored his 12th goal of the season at 7:11 of the second period with assists to Matt Ulwelling and Paul Cabana on the power play. At 13:51 Mississippi's Lisabeth scored his second goal of the night to give the Seawolves a 3-1 lead. Robin Carruthers brought the Inferno within one goal scoring his 14th goal of the season 17 seconds into the third period. Barrie Moore and Tim Smith had the assists. Columbia then put the pressure on outscoring the Seawolves 28 - 17 in the last two periods. Tim Smith scored to tie the game and send it into overtime at 19:54 with the extra attacker from Corey Hessler and Chris St. Croix. The overtime period shots were in favor of the Seawolves 4-1. Josh Blackburn stopped 32 of 35 shots to improve his record to 12-5-3.
Saturday, January 3rd Columbia 3 TEXAS 6
The Texas Wildcatters scored four goals in the second period as they douse the Inferno 6-3. Barrie Moore scored Columbia's first goal at 5:24 of the first period with passes from Tim Smith and Robin Carruthers. Texas then scored the next five goals to take a 6-1 lead going into the third period. The Inferno controlled most of the play in the third period. They tried to battle back as Smith scores his 11th goal of the season from Alex Burrows at 5:40 of the third period. Carruthers scored a shorthanded goal at 10:44 as he received a pass from Chris St. Croix for the third goal of the night for the Inferno.
Sunday, January 4th COLUMBIA 7 Texas 0
Inferno goaltender Josh Blackburn records his second shutout of the season and improves his record to 13-5-3 as Columbia downs the Wildcatters 7-0. Greg Amadio scored his second goal of the season to open the scoring for the Inferno with passes from Terry Harrison and Mike Roemensky at 7:49. Robin Carruthers scored unassisted off the face-off 10 seconds later to give Columbia a 2-0 lead. At 9:28, Paul Cabana scored on the power play with assists to Alex Burrows and Chris St. Croix. Burrows then scored at 10:42 for his 13th goal of the season from Eric Labelle and Tim Smith. With nine seconds left in the game, Labelle scored the fifth goal of the game with a centering feed from Burrows. At the end of the first period, the Inferno lead 5-0. On the first of two minor penalties on the Wildcatters, Matt Ulwelling tipped in a shot by Corey Hessler for his fourth goal of the season at 13:04. Sean Owens had the second assist. Terry Harrison scored on the second minor penalty as the Inferno go ahead 7-0 at 14:58 of the second period. Owens and Derek Eastman had the assists. Shots on goal at the end of two periods were in favor of the Inferno 31-21. After a scoreless third period, the Inferno improves their record to 20-9-4 and remains in first place of the Southern Division with 44 points.
