Manchester Monarchs News Release
HEAD-TO-HEAD - The Monarchs and Royals will play their third game in three nights against each other, but the first from Manchester. The Monarchs have beaten the Royals in two-straight games, and look for the sweep at the Jungle. Manchester checks into tonight with a 4-2-0-0 record against Reading this season and come into tonight's game with an 8-0-0-0 record in their last 10 games, while Reading checks in at 5-4-1-0 in their last 10.
WHERE WE STAND - The Monarchs (69 points) gained a point on second place Adirondack last night, and now lead the Thunder by eight points for the East Division lead. Reading is now tied with Elmira for third place in the division with 56 points each. Manchester remains tied with the Florida Everblades for tops in the Eastern Conference, with Toledo chasing the front-runners by four points.
READING FOR FUN - Matt Leitner has been on a tear of late, scoring six points (1g, 5a) in his last three games, and has dominated Reading so far this season. The Monarchs rookie has scored eight points (1g, 7a) in five games against the Royals this season, posting seven penalty minutes and a +5 rating.
STARTING FAST - The Monarchs are 20-3-0-2 when scoring the first goal of the game and hold the third highest winning percentage in the ECHL (0.840) when lighting the lamp first.
REIGN COMING IN - The Monarchs received Scott Sabourin and Zach Leslie from the Ontario Reign today, and both players will be active for tonight's game. Sabourin was a member of the 2014-15 Calder Cup Monarchs team, and Leslie is in his first professional season after being drafted in the 6th round by the L.A. Kings.
CRAZY 3'S - The Monarchs and Royals have each scored 60 goals in the third period this season, tied for second in the ECHL, chasing only Orlando (61).
