Defenseman Tyler Lewington Reassigned to South Carolina

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons in the Lowcountry and proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that defenseman Tyler Lewington has been reassigned to the club from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Lewington, a seventh round selection of the Washington Capitals in the 2013 NHL Draft, rejoins the Stingrays after appearing in 19 games with Hershey, scoring three points (two goals, one assist) to go along with 53 penalty minutes.

In 12 games this year with South Carolina, Lewington has notched three points (one goal, two assists). The 21-year-old defenseman scored his first professional goal in a 3-0 win at Atlanta on November 21.

Lewington played four years of junior hockey with the WHL's Medicine Hat Tigers prior to turning pro, scoring 112 points (18 goals, 94 assists) in 250 career games.

The Stingrays visit the Swamp Rabbits at 7 p.m. tonight Fans are encouraged to head to King Street Grille-Northwoods for the Watch Party. The club returns home to battle the Swamp Rabbits on Sunday for Mascot Mania at 3:05 p.m. It's a Crews Subaru and Charleston County Parks Family Days game, featuring $5 Kids Tickets and $5 Kids Meals.
