Greenville Grrrowl News Release

GREENVILLE, SC - The Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL, proud affiliates of the Chicago Blackhawks and Edmonton Oilers, have announced that goalie MIKE BRODEUR has been returned to Greenville after a one-week stint with the Norfolk Admirals. Called up to the AHL for the first time in his career on March 27th, Brodeur made an appearance in the Admirals' game against Bridgeport on April 1st.

The 22-year old rookie replaced Norfolk starter Adam Munro after one period in the Admirals' 7-2 loss last Friday. Brodeur, a seventh round pick by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, made 11 saves in 38:54 of work. The 6-2, 167-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, spent training camp with Norfolk before being assigned to Greenville earlier this season.

In 34 games with Greenville, Brodeur has posted an 18-15-6 record with a 2.76 goals against average and .925 save percentage. Brodeur leads the ECHL in shootout percentage (.914), having stopped 32 of 35 shootout attempts. He is tied for the league lead in shootout wins with six, and recorded his first professional shutout at South Carolina on March 22nd in a 2-0 victory.

Greenville begins the final week of the regular season with a home game Tuesday against the Columbia Inferno at 7:05 p.m. The Grrrowl then travel to Columbia, SC on Wednesday and to Charlotte, NC on Friday before wrapping up the regular season at the BI-LO Center Saturday against the Pee Dee Pride. Having secured a playoff spot on March 26th, Greenville is currently the 8th seed in the American Conference standings.
