Johnstown Chiefs News Release


The Johnstown Chiefs (22-34-14; 58 PTS; 7th North div.) went 2-1-0 last week with wins at home over Dayton and Wheeling. Friday they lost at Toledo. The Chiefs will play their final two games of the season this week as they face Trenton and Atlantic City , Friday and Saturday night. The Chiefs remain in seventh place in the North division.

Game #68 (4/1/05) TOLEDO 4 - Johnstown 1 Cann 41 Saves

Friday night, the Johnstown Chiefs played their final road game of the season as they fell to the Toledo Storm 4-1. Brian Collins scored the lone Johnstown goal. Chiefs goaltender David Cann made 41 saves. P.L. Sleigher registered a hat trick for the Storm.

Game #69 (4/2/05) JOHNSTOWN 7 - Dayton 6 Collins Two Goals and an Assist

The Johnstown Chiefs snapped their seven game losing streak Saturday night with a 7-6 shoot out win over the Dayton Bombers in a wild contest. The two teams scored a combined seven goals in the third period. Brian Collins led the Chiefs with a pair of goals and an assist. Chad Cavanagh , Brent Kelly, Ian Manzano, and P.L. Courchesne also scored for the Chiefs. Dmitri Tarabrin scored the game winning goal in the shootout. Dayton had goals by Tyler Scott, Tyler Sloan, Janne Jokila, JB Bittner, Aaron Foster and Jeff Szwez. Chiefs goaltender Mark Scally got his first win of the season making 32 saves. Dayton net minder Michael Ayers made 38 saves in the contest.

Game #70 (4/3/05) JOHNSTOWN 6 - Wheeling 4 Desrochers Hat Trick

Jean Desrochers registered the Johnstown Chiefs first hat trick of the season Sunday afternoon as they defeated the visiting Wheeling Nailers 6-4 at the War Memorial. Chris Leinweber, Brent Kelly and Brett Peterson also scored for the Chiefs. Evgeny Lazarev had a pair of goals for the Nailers while Ray DiLauro and Cam Paddock also scored. Chiefs goaltender David Cann picked up the win making 29 saves. Joe Exter had 25 saves for the Nailers.

Friday night, the Chiefs play the Trenton Titans (38-21-9, 85 PTS; T-3rd North div.) for the tenth and final time this season. The Chiefs are 2-2-5 against the Titans this season and 18-21-7 all-time. The Titans are 8-2-0 in their last ten games and currently in a tie for third place in the North division.

The Chiefs close out the 2004-05 season Saturday night when they host the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies (40-22-8, 88 PTS; 2nd North div.). The Chiefs are 2-5-2 against Atlantic City this season. Both wins came at Boardwalk Hall. Atlantic City is 7-3-0 in their last ten games. PROMO: FAN APPRECIATION DAY. Hundreds of prizes will be given away at random to fans throughout the game. Following the game Chiefs defensemen Brent Bilodeau and Jeff Sullivan will be appearing at the BIC Autograph Booth in the concourse. Both players are retiring at the end of the season.

- Brian Collins has 4 goals and 6 points with a +2 rating in his last five games.

- The Chiefs will miss the playoffs for just the second time in the last six seasons.

- Brent Kelly had 2 goals and 6 points in three games last week.
