GREENSBORO, NC) The Florida Marlins announced today that right-handed pitcher Zach Lerch has been transferred to Greensboro this afternoon from the class high-A Jupiter Hammerheads in Jupiter, Fl.

During the 2005 season, 22-year-old Lerch has pitched in five games for the Hammerheads. He holds a record of 1-0-1 with a 3.00 ERA. In his 9.0 innings pitched, Lerch has struck out 11 batters and allowed five hits and three earned runs.

In 2004, he spent most of his time with short season Jamestown and also played three games with the Jupiter team. While with Jamestown, Lerch pitched in 13 games and was 5-4 with a 4.76 ERA. In 64.1 innings pitched he allowed 72 hits and 34 earned runs.

Lerch was selected out of Muscatine (Iowa) Community College in the 42nd round of the 2002 First Year Player Draft.
