Charlotte Knights News Release

(NASHVILLE, TN) -- The Charlotte Knights brought the tying run to third base in the top of the ninth inning, but ultimately dropped game three of the six-game series against the Nashville Sounds by a score of 5-4 on Thursday night from First Horizon Park in Nashville, TN. The Sounds scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and handed Charlotte a second consecutive loss in the series.

Charlotte center fielder Adam Haseley started the game off with a home run in the first inning. The home run was the sixth of the season for Haseley, who finished the night with a game-high four hits. The Knights tacked on a second run in the top of the first inning thanks to an RBI single by catcher Korey Lee.

Two innings later, the Knights added a third run of the game thanks to help from third baseman Yolbert Sánchez and right fielder Clint Frazier. In the top of the third, Sánchez led the inning off with a triple and then scored on a sacrifice-fly RBI by Frazier. The Knights possessed a 3-0 lead at that point.

Charlotte RHP José Ureña started the game and was impressive over six innings. Ureña allowed just one run on four hits and left the game with a 3-1 lead. The Sounds later scored four runs against the Charlotte bullpen.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Charlotte RHP Deivi García allowed a solo home run to Patrick Dorrian to cut the lead to just one, 3-2. In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Sounds put up three runs against Charlotte reliever Caleb Freeman (0-1, 10.13), who was saddled with the loss. The three-run eighth inning was highlighted by a Rowdy Tellez RBI double and a Keston Hiura two-run homer.

The Knights rallied in the top of the ninth inning, scoring one run against Nashville reliever J.B. Bukauskas. Frazier drove home Erik González in the ninth on a sacrifice-fly RBI. It was all Charlotte could muster, however, in the inning despite putting two runners on base. Bukauskas earned the save, his fifth of the season.

The Sounds now lead the series, 2-1.

The two teams will continue the six-game series on Friday night from Nashville, TN. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action on www.CharlotteKnights.com. First pitch on Friday night is set for 7:35 p.m. from First Horizon Park.
