Buffalo Bisons News Release
BUFFALO, NY - Bo Bichette turned Buffalo into BO-ffalo on Thursday night as he racked up 3 RBIs, including a two-run home run blast, in the Bisons 7-1 win against the Rochester Red Wings at Sahlen Field in downtown Buffalo.
The Bisons didn't waste any time jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Bo Bichette hit a two-run opposite field home run straight into the Herd's bullpen. This is Bichette's first home run of his MLB rehab assignment with the Bisons. Bichette has been out of the Toronto Blue Jays lineup since July 31st with tendonitis in his right knee.
Buffalo kept stringing hits together in bottom of the third and Orelvis Martinez's single to far left field scored Rafael Lantigua from third base and gave the Bisons a 3-0 lead. The scoring this inning didn't stop there for the Herd as Luis De Los Santos singled to center field and scored Ernie Clement, 4-0.
Bichette racked up his third RBI of the night in the bottom of the fourth inning as he hit a sacrifice fly that was long enough to score Jamie Ritchie from third base and make it a 5-0 ballgame in favor of Buffalo. The sacrifice flies kept on coming for the Bisons this inning as Martinez hit a long ball to center field that made it a 6-0 game when Cameron Eden rounded home from third base.
The Red Wings got themselves on the board in the top of the fifth inning as Luis Garcia grounded into a double play, allowing Richie Martin to score from third base and make it a 6-1 game.
In five innings of work, Bisons starting pitcher Wes Parsons held the opposition to only four hits and one run, going scoreless until the fifth inning. Fifty-four out of Parsons 86 pitches were good for strikes, helping him in the six strikeouts he racked up this outing.
The Herd added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning as Eden grounded into a force out that allowed Trevor Schwecke to score from third and make it a 7-1 lead for the Bisons.
The Bisons and the Red Wings are set to play game three of this five-game set on Friday night with at 7:05 p.m. scheduled first pitch at Sahlen Field in downtown Buffalo. RHP Mitch White is set to take the mound for the Bisons and RHP Wily Peralta will be on the bump for the opposing Red Wings.
