Portland, Maine (February 3, 2003) - The Dodge AHL All-Star Classic was played on Monday night in Portland, Maine with the Canadian All-Stars defeating the Planet USA team by a final score of 10-7. Utah Grizzlies right wing Jon Sim was named the Dodge AHL All-Star Game Most Valuable Player with two goals and an assist.
Sim, 25, started the game's scoring just 63 seconds into the contest giving Team Canada the early 1-0 lead. In the second period, the New Glasgow, Nova Scotia native assisted on Justin Papineau's (Worcester IceCats) goal that tied the score at four goals apiece. Team Canada trailed 7-6 heading into the final period but was able to rally with four unanswered goals to claim the victory. In the game, four players had three points for the Canadian team. Hershey's Charlie Stephens (2-1 - 3), Philadelphia's John Slaney (1-2 - 3) and Milwaukee's Darren Haydar (2-1 - 3) joined Sim as the game's high scorers.
