The Lynx ended the month of January with a record of 6-6-2, going 1-3-0 this past week. The overall record stands at 16-28-3 with thirty-five points. The Lynx remain in seventh place in the Southeastern Division, six points behind sixth place Columbus.

The Lynx lost in Johnstown on Wednesday, January 29 by a score of 8-2. Both teams were unsuccessful on the power play. Andrew Williamson extended his goal-scoring streak to five games. Augusta's four penalty minutes is a season low for the Lynx. Friday, January 31 saw the Lynx finish out the month with a win in Wheeling by a score of 3-2. Williamson again scored, extending his goal-scoring and point streak to six games. The Lynx moved on to Cincinnati Saturday, February 1 with the Cyclones coming out on top 5-4, despite a late rally by the Lynx. Defenseman Ryan Crane notched his second goal of the season. Williamson's goal-scoring streak came to an end, but he continued his point streak tallying two assists. Augusta finished up a seven game road swing with a stop in Lexington Sunday, February 2 losing 6-4. Mark Thompson scored his first goal as a Lynx and his second of the season. Williamson assisted on two goals, extending his point streak to eight games. A goal by Mike Legg extended his point streak to six games, with him earning eight points in the last six games.

The Lynx return home to the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center February 7 for the first of nine home games in the month of February. The Lynx home record currently stands at 10-7-1, with the Lynx going 3-1-1 at home in January. The third ranked Roanoke Express of the Northeast Division come to Augusta for the first time this season and the second and final meeting between the two teams. Both head coach's will be meeting each other for the first time, with both men moving from assistant coach to head coach during this season. In the last meeting the Lynx were 0-4 on the power play while the Express went 3-5. Roanoke is 12-12-2 on the road this season and are currently on a two-game road losing streak.

The Lynx will host the sixth ranked Columbus Cottonmouths on February 8 for the sixth of seven meetings. Columbus leads the series 3-3-0 with the Cottonmouths losing 4-2 in Columbus in the last meeting. Williamson has eight points from three goals and five assists versus Columbus. Cottonmouths' winger Jeff Zehr has one goal and five assists for six points against the Lynx. Columbus is 6-13-3 on the road, having split 1-1 in their two trips to Augusta. Since head coach Bruce Garber's resignation, the Cottonmouths have gone 2-0-1, snapping an 0-9-2 winless skid.

1. Williamson- In month of January (13 games played): 12 goals, 9 assists, 21 points, on an eight game point streak
2. Mike Legg- In month of January (14 games played): 4 goals, 11 assists, 15 points
3. Martin Lapointe- In month of January (14 games played): 1 goal, 12 assists, 13 points, plus 4 rating, team's leading defenseman scorer with 19 points in 19 games

Stat of the Week: In the month of January the Lynx scored 46 goals, a season high for Augusta. Winger Williamson's goal output accounts for 26 percent of the total Lynx offense.

Upcoming Events

Monday, February 3: Join the Lynx at Cadillac's Fine Food and Spirits at 7 pm for the "Behind the Bench Coach's Show" with Head Coach David Wilkie and Kyle Schultz.

Tuesday, February 4: "Hat Trick for Life" School Assembly program at North Columbia Elementary School, 1 pm. Assistant Coach John Whitwell and a Lynx player will be present.

Wednesday, February 5: Join two Lynx players from 4-430 for "Story Time with the Lynx" at the Gibbs Library on Belair Road in Martinez.

Friday, February 7: The Lynx host the Roanoke Express at 7:35 pm at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center

Saturday, February 8: The Columbus Cottonmouths travel to the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center with a game time of 7:35 pm.
