
Mississippi Runs into Road Woes

Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
BILOXI, Miss. â The Mississippi Sea Wolves dropped all three games on the road last week, extending their season-high losing streak to four games.
On Friday, Mississippi fell 3-1 at Dayton, Ohio. The Sea Wolves suffered a 5-4 setback on Saturday at Wheeling, West Virginia and lost 5-2 at Toledo, Ohio on Sunday.
After 47 games, the Sea Wolves are 26-17-4. Mississippi sits in third place in the Southwest Division with 56 points. At home this season, the Sea Wolves are 16-7-3. Mississippi's road record is 10-10-1.

Tuesday, Feb. 4 at Peoria Rivermen â 7:00 p.m. CT â Peoria Civic Center
The game marks the first of two regular season head-to-head meetings. Both games will take place within five days. Peoria visits Mississippi on Sunday at 5:05 p.m.
Sea Wolves forward Dave Paradise returns to play at Peoria for the first time since being a member of the Rivermen in 1997-98. During his time with Peoria, Paradise scored an amazing 16 goals and adding seven assists for 23 points in 15 games. Mississippi rookie Josh Bennett returns to play against his former team for the first time. Bennett suited up in two games with the Rivermen during the 2000-01 season, picking up seven penalty minutes.
The Sea Wolves all-time record against the Rivermen through five games is 3-2-0.
Mississippi's all-time record at Peoria is 0-1. The Rivermen won the only game between the teams at the Peoria Civic Center, 8-1 on January 8, 1997.
Thursday, Feb. 6 at Arkansas RiverBlades â 7:00 p.m. CT â ALLTEL Arena
Game 7 of 12 in the regular season head-to-head meetings. The Sea Wolves are 2-3-1 against the RiverBlades this season. Mississippi is 1-2-0 at Arkansas this season.
Arkansas won the last two games between the teams, both played at ALLTEL Arena. On January 5, the RiverBlades took the contest 7-2. Then on January 10, Arkansas doubled up Mississippi, 4-2.
Sea Wolves' Steffon Walby leads the Sea Wolves with seven points (2g-5a) against the RiverBlades. Mississippi defenseman Jim Baxter is tops with three goals in games versus Arkansas.
RiverBlades' Terry Marchant and Buddy Smith each have a team-high seven assists and nine points against the Sea Wolves. Jason Bermingham and Ernie Hartlieb lead the way with four goals each versus Mississippi.
The Sea Wolves all-time record against the RiverBlades through 27 games is 15-9-3.
Mississippi's all-time record at Arkansas after 16 games is 10-5-1.
Friday, Feb. 7 at Pensacola Ice Pilots â 7:05 p.m. CT â Pensacola Civic Center
Game 8 of 12 in the regular season head-to-head meetings. The Sea Wolves are 4-2-1 against the Ice Pilots this season. Through three of six games at Pensacola, Mississippi is 2-1-0.
Pensacola has taken the last two games between the teams, including a 4-1 win at Pensacola on December 27. The Ice Pilots also beat the Sea Wolves, 5-4 in overtime at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on January 4. Gregor Baumgartner scored the game-winner for Pensacola.
Sea Wolves' Jim Baxter leads the Sea Wolves with 10 assists and 12 points against the Ice Pilots. Mississippi's Steffon Walby is the team leader with four goals against Pensacola.
Ice Pilots' Louis Dumont leads the Ice Pilots with seven assists and eight points against the Sea Wolves. Pensacola's Gregor Baumgartner is tops with four goals versus Mississippi.
Sunday, Feb. 9 vs. Peoria Rivermen â 5:05 p.m. CT â Mississppi Coast Coliseum
The game is the second and final regular season meeting. The teams met Tuesday at Peoria.
Mississippi's all-time record against Peoria at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum after four games is 3-1-0.
The last game between the teams at the Wolves Den was won by Mississippi, 4-2 on January 9, 2002.
Player of the Week:
Rookie forward Mike Scott collected points in each of the three games last week. Scott picked up an assist on Friday at Dayton, a helper on Saturday at Wheeling and one goal and one assist at Toledo on Sunday. The 6-foot-1 and 195-pound native of Calgary, Alberta has 13 goals and 20 assists for 33 points in 41 games this season. The 25-year-old was acquired in a trade with Atlantic City on October 29.
Goaltender of the Week:
Greg Gardner appeared in all three games for Mississippi last week. The 27-year-old native of Mississauga, Ontario has an overall record of 20-13-4 for the Sea Wolves this season.
Injured Reserve:
Forward Jeff Hutchins is on the 7-day injured reserve. Goaltender Mike Buckley and defenseman David Cornacchia continue to be on the 30-day IR.
Streaking Sea Wolves:
Rookie forward Mike Scott has points in seven straight games (3g-6a).
Veteran forward Dave Paradise has a two-game point streak (1g-2a).
Defenseman Jim Baxter has assists in two consecutive games (2a).
