K-Wings Defenseman Mark Vilneff is Named Alternate Captain

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings of the United Hockey League announce, the naming of defenseman Mark Vilneff to alternate captain.

Mark Vilneff is ranked third in the UHL among players in all time games played (559). Vilneff also has been on his share of playoff teams. In his 8 prior seasons as a professional, Mark has made the postseason in each of those years. Mark was with the Muskegon Fury last season and played a role in assisting the Fury to the Colonial Cup Championship. Vilneff has played with the Fury for at least part of a season, in each of the past eight seasons. During the 1998-99 season Mark was named the UHL's Most Improved Player. "Mark is a leader on and off the ice," said General Manager/Head Coach Paul Pickard. "Besides beings a leader, he (Mark) has added a lot of character to our locker room.

This is Mark Vilneff's first season with the Kalamazoo Wings and has shown his team spirit throughout the season. Vilneff scored his 100th career point on an assist against the Fort Wayne Komets on 11/24/02.

Mark Vilneff's leadership skills will be put to the test as the K-Wings take on the Flint Generals on Wednesday February 5th at 7:00 pm at home. The game against the Generals will also coincide with Family Fun Pack Night, where K-Wing fans can buy 4 tickets, 4 hotdogs, and 4 Cokes for $28.

Mark Vilneff will share the responsibilities of being alternate captain with Mark Lawrence and Justin Cardwell, as team captain Chad Dameworth is injured.
