Johnstown Chiefs News Release


The Johnstown Chiefs (19-24-7; 45 PTS; 5th NW div.) have climbed the ladder in the Northwest division standings moving into sole possession of 5th place by winning five out of their last six games. The Chiefs will have another busy week as they play three home games in four nights. Wednesday they take on Lexington. Friday night they take on Cincinnati and Saturday night the Wheeling Nailers. The Chiefs trail Cincinnati by five points for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Northwest division.

GAME #47 (1/29/03) JOHNSTOWN 8 – Augusta 2 St. Pierre Two Goals, Three Assists

The Johnstown Chiefs dominated the Augusta Lynx last Wednesday by a score of 8-2. Sam St. Pierre had two goals and three assists in the game. J.F. Boutin and Dominic Forget also scored twice in the contest. Brent Bilodeau and Steve Hildenbrand scored the other two Johnstown goals. Peter Aubry got the win making 29 saves.

GAME #48 (1/31/03) ATLANTIC CITY 7 – Johnstown 3 Smital Goal, Assist

The Chiefs three game winning streak was snapped Friday night at Atlantic City when they fell 7-3. Lukas Smital, P.L. Courchesne, and Dominic Forget all scored for Johnstown. Peter Aubry suffered the loss making 37 saves. Four of the Bullies goals came on the power play.

GAME #49 (2/1/03) Johnstown 4 – RICHMOND 2 St. Pierre Two Assists

The Chiefs picked up their first road win in seven games on Saturday night, as they defeated the Richmond Renegades 4-2. Brent Bilodeau, Jim Leger, Dmitri Tarabrin and Dominic Forget all scored. Peter Aubry made 33 saves for the win. Aubry also stopped Richmond 's Leon Hayward on a penalty shot in the third period. Richmond out shot Johnstown 35-28 in the game.

GAME #50 (2/2/03) JOHNSTOWN 4 – Greensboro 3 (SO) Scally 35 Saves

Trailing 3-0 in the third period, the Chiefs scored three consecutive goals to tie the Greensboro Generals 3-3. Jim Leger, Dmitri Tarabrin and Lukas Smital scored the Johnstown goals. The Chiefs out shot the Generals 9-1 in overtime. Smital would score in the sixth round of the shootout to give the Chiefs the win. Mark Scally got the win in goal making 35 saves.

The Chiefs and the Lexington Men O'War (23-20-5; 51 PTS, 3rd NW div.)meet for the sixth time this season. The Chiefs are 1-2-2 against the MOW. The MOW are 2-0-0 at the War Memorial this season. Lexington is currently on a three game winning streak.

The Cincinnati Cyclones (23-18-4; 50 PTS, 4TH NW div.) The Chiefs are winless this season against the Cyclones going 0-4-0. The Cyclones have out scored the Chiefs 22-8. The Chiefs trail Cincinnati by five points for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Northwest division. The Cyclones are 2-6-2 in their last ten games.

The Chiefs and the Wheeling Nailers (19-27-3; 41 PTS, 7th NW div.) meet for the sixth time this season Saturday night at the War Memorial. The Chiefs are 2-2-1 against Wheeling this season. The Nailers are last in the Northwest division, and are 5-5-0 in their last ten games.

CHIEFS NOTES:

- J.F. Boutin was the Chiefs leading scorer in the month of January with 9 goals, 24 points and a +8, in 13 games.

- Sam St. Pierre has 2 goals, 8 points and is +7 in his last five games.

- Peter Aubry is 5th in the ECHL with 2135 minutes played and 4th in the league with 1107 saves.

- The Chiefs have won four straight home games.
