January 11, 2020 - ECHL (ECHL)
Indy Fuel News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - In the second half of back-to-back matchups, the Indy Fuel took home a 3-2 win over the Toledo Walleye. The Fuel would score two goals in the opening period and triple their lead in the second period before seeing two goals from Toledo in the third. After fending off Toledo pressure in the third, the Fuel held on for their third win in a row against Toledo
Jay Dickman stared the scoring 3:29 into the first period when he deflected a shot from the point by Connor McDonald. The Fuel would double their lead in the first period when a faceoff won by Liam Coughlin came to Joe Sullivan and he fired it past Toledo goaltender Billy Christopoulos. Toledo's Mike Moffat earned a five minute major penalty and a game misconduct for interference but Indy was unable to score on the lengthy power play, taking a 2-0 lead into the locker room.
The Fuel would triple their lead halfway through the second stanza when a bouncing puck came to Alex Rauter and he fired it past Christopoulos, giving Indy a 3-0 lead.
Justin Buzzeo cut the Fuel lead to two, picking up a loose puck in the slot and firing it over the shoulder of Fuel goaltender Dan Bakala. Knocking the lead to one, Branden Trook pulled the puck out of a scramble and fired it over Bakala. The Walleye would put pressure on the Fuel to tie but Indy would hold on to defeat the Walleye 3-2.
