January 12, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release
Long Beach, Calif. â The Ice Dogs played hard versus Idaho attempting to earn their second consecutive win. The penalty riddled final period led to two Idaho goals and an Ice Dogs loss. Idaho took advantage of their power-play opportunities to take the lead for good.
The game winning goal was scored by Steelheads left winger Scott Burt on a power-play at 8:44 in the third.
Long Beach (10-23-2) seemed to be in control in the first period when Alex Kim snuck the puck past Idaho goalie Dan Ellis for a shorthanded goal with 18:39 left in the opening frame. Kim scored his second goal of the year unassisted. Idaho (24-11-2) scored its first goal at 8:40 in the second period. The goal was scored by Lance Galbraith, his 12th goal of the year.
Darren Partch helped Long Beach regain the lead by scoring his fifth goal of the season 3:03 into the third. McNabb was ejected from the game at 7:27 for a game misconduct which led to a power play goal by Idaho forward Dylan Gyori at 8:06.
Just 38 seconds later another power-play goal was scored by Scott Burt to take the lead. The Ice Dogs would not answer back as they watched a possible win streak fizzle into thin air.
