Clones Split Weekend Pair

The Cyclones finished the week at 17-16-2 following a loss to the Chiefs in Johnstown 4-2 on Friday and a 5-2 win over the Nailers at home on Saturday. This week, the Clones host Peoria on Tuesday to mark the season's halfway point. On Friday, the Clones travel to Wheeling for a two-game set on Friday and Saturday. The Clones finish the weekend with a Sunday matinee in Toledo.

Friday, January 9-Cincinnati 2 at Johnstown 4

Two Cyclones power-play goals were not enough to overcome the Chiefs on Friday. Jason Norrie scored on the power play in the second period and Terry Marchant added a man advantage marker in the third to provide all the Clones offense. The Chiefs answered back with goals from four different players (Larry Courville, Chad Cavanagh, Steve Hildenbrand and Jay Langager). The loss dropped the Clones to .500 on the season (16-16-2).

Saturday, January 10-Wheeling 2 at Cincinnati 5

The Clones downed the league's best team on Saturday at U.S. Bank Arena. After a scoreless first period, the Clones took control on second period goals by Mike Hanson and Jade Galbraith. The third period featured five total goals as the Clones scored three times (Garrett Prosofsky, Ryan Brindley and Tyler Deis into an empty net) while the Nailers scored twice (Steve Crampton and Bogdan Rudenko). Tyler Masters stopped 31 of 33 Wheeling shots in earning his fifth pro victory.

This Week

Tuesday, January 13-Peoria at Cincinnati

The Cyclones renew their rivalry with the Rivermen on Tuesday at U.S. Bank Arena. The Clones and R-Men have played eight times this season with Peoria winning five of those meetings. Peoria sniper Randy Rowe has scored nine of his division-leading 23 goals vs. the Clones. Rowe recorded a hat trick the last time the teams met on December 27th in Peoria. The R-Men won the game 6-2. Garrett Prosofsky scored both Clones goals that night and has five goals and three assists for eight points in seven games vs. the R-Men this year. At home vs. the R-Men, the Clones are 1-3-0 after a victory on December 26th. The 4-3 victory was highlighted by Tom Rouleau's controversial game winning marker.

Friday, January 16 and Saturday, January 17 Cincinnati at Wheeling

After three meetings with the Nailers at U.S. Bank Arena, the Clones make their first trip of the season to WesBanCo Arena in Wheeling. The Clones have won two of three this season vs. the Nail including last week's 5-2 win. The Nailers enter this week as the best team in the ECHL with a 25-10-2 record for 52 points in 37 games. The Nail are the third highest scoring team in the league averaging 3.65 goals per game. Wheeling winger Jason Jaffray is fourth in the league in scoring with 49 points (20g, 29a) through 35 games. Jaffray will be a starter for the Eastern Conference at this month's ECHL All-Star Game in Peoria.

Sunday, January 18-Cincinnati at Toledo

The Clones return to Toledo for the third time this year on Sunday. The Clones are 2-0-0 vs. the Storm at the Toledo Sports Arena this season including a 4-1 win the last time the teams met on December 28. Toledo is led by new head coach Nick Vitucci. Vitucci took over for Steve Harrison on December 20th and has gone 4-6-1 as the coach of the Storm.

Clones to Watch

-Garrett Prosofsky received Cyclones Player of the Week honors after recording a goal and three assists in two games this week.

-Ryan Brindley scored a goal and added two assists this weekend. Brindley will represent the Clones at the ECHL All-Star Game later this month.

-Dean Stork recorded three assists over the weekend.
