Columbia Inferno News Release
THE WEEK AHEAD
Tuesday, January 13th @ Greensboro Generals 7:00pm Greensboro Coliseum Complex
The Inferno is 2-1-0 this season and 3-4-3 all time against the Generals. This is the fourth meeting between these two teams.
Friday, January 16th vs. South Carolina Stingrays 7:30pm Carolina Coliseum
This is the third game between the Inferno and Stingrays. The Inferno is 1-1-0 this season and 11-6-1 all time against South Carolina. The Stingrays is tied for fifth place in the Southern Division with 41 points.
Saturday, January 17th @ Florence Pride 7:30pm Florence Civic Center
The Pride is in seventh place with 31 points in the Southern Division. This is the fifth game between the Pride and Inferno.
Sunday, January 18th vs. Greensboro Generals 3:00pm Carolina Coliseum
This will be the second game this week between the Generals and Inferno.

Thursday, January 8th COLUMBIA 7 Roanoke 0
Josh Blackburn recorded his second shutout in a row as the Inferno torch the Express 7-0 Thursday night at the Carolina Coliseum. The Inferno scored all seven goals at even strength. Barrie Moore opened the scoring for Columbia as he scored off of the rebound of a Robin Carruthers shot at 12:12 of the first period. Greg Amadio scored his third goal of the season with a slapshot from the point at 14:17 with help from Matt Ulwelling. Alex Burrows scored his first of the night at 17:24 with a shot from in front of the crease with passes from Sean Owens and Eric Labelle. Burrows scored his second goal of the night at 14:06 of the second period from a Tim Smith pass across the middle as the Inferno went up 4-0. Paul Cabana tipped in the puck at 15:44 from Carruthers and Moore to give Columbia a 5-0 lead. Labelle scored with 1:22 left of the second to record his first goal on home ice but his fifth goal of the season. Derek Eastman and Burrows had the assists. Cabana rounded out the scoring in the third period with his second goal of the night at 1:19 with the set up by Chris St. Croix and Moore. Blackburn stopped 27 shots to record his 14th win and second shutout of the year. Columbia had a record high of 50 shots on goal and was 0-4 on the power play.
Friday, January 9th Columbia 2 TOLEDO 3
The Toledo Storm beat the Columbia Inferno in front of 5,017 fans at the Carolina Coliseum Friday night. Columbia's Robin Carruthers scored at 5:51 of the first period from a pass from Paul Cabana and Chris St. Croix. Toledo tied the game at 7:09 with a goal by Alexander Jacques. Only 41 seconds later Toledo's Paul Ballantyne scored the go ahead goal. Eric Labelle scored his sixth goal of the season at 10:14 of the second period with assists to Tim Smith and Derek Eastman. The Inferno battled but came up short as Ballantyne scored his second goal of the night at 4:20 of the third period to give the Storm the win.
Saturday, January 10th COLUMBIA 4 Pensacola 2
The Columbia Inferno defeated the Ice Pilots 4-2 on Saturday night in Pensacola, Florida. Greg Chambers scored first for Pensacola at 3:13 of the first period to give the Ice Pilots a 1-0 lead. Alex Burrows scored his 16th goal of the season on the power play at 11:39 with passes from Tim Smith and Paul Cabana to tie the game at one a piece. Matt Ulwelling scored on a rebound shot to give the Inferno a 2-1 lead at 16:29 with assists to Sean Owens and Greg Amadio. After a scoreless second period, shots where in favor to Pensacola 34 -25. Pensacola's Corey Neilson tied the game at two on the power play at 6:36 of the third period. Columbia answered back with the game-winning goal on the power play goal by Tim Smith at 11:49 with help from Chris St. Croix and Derek Eastman. Robin Carruthers added the insurance goal as he scored shorthanded at 13:57 as he scored his 19th goal of the season. Eastman had the assist. Inferno goaltender Trevor Prior stopped 40 of 42 shots as he records his second win.
