Wranglers Gear up for Alaskan Showdown

Las Vegas Wranglers News Release


Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers played four times at home this past week going 2-2-0. The Wranglers beat the Fresno Falcons 5-1 last Tuesday. Las Vegas followed up with a 5-1 win over Texas last Wednesday. The Wranglers concluded their week with back-to-back losses against Peoria Friday and Saturday., 4-2 and 6-2 respectively.

This week Las Vegas will conclude a five-game home stand. The Wranglers host Alaska on Tuesday at 7:05 pm. Las Vegas will head to Bakersfield on Saturday for a 7:00 pm face off with the Condors.

Las Vegas 5 vs. Fresno 1

Las Vegas, NV –The Las Vegas Wranglers beat the Fresno Falcons 5-1 on Tuesday night. Marc Magliarditi led the Wranglers stopping 35 of 36 Falcons shots for the win. Greg Day, Chris Kenady, and Tom Nelson combined for ten points in the victory. Kenady scored twice and added two assists, pushing his total to 12 points in his last six games. Greg Day scored once and added an assist while line-mate Tom Nelson added three assists. Mike McBain and Eric Schneider also scored in the win. The victory gave Las Vegas sole possession of first place in the Pacific Division.

Wednesday, January 7th

Las Vegas 5 vs. Texas 1

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers beat the Texas Wildcatters 5-1 on Wednesday night at the Orleans Arena. The line of Cam Bristow, Justin Kelly and Doug Wright combined for seven points in the win. Kelly had one goal and two assists, while Wright added a goal and an assist. Chris Kenady, Dave Cousineau and Tom Nelson also added goals in the victory for the Wranglers. Kenady continued his hot play with two points on the night. Goalie Marc Magliarditi stopped 28 shots for his 16th win of the year.

Friday, January 9th

Las Vegas 2 vs. Peoria 4

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers lost to the Peoria Rivermen 4-2 Friday night at the Orleans Arena. Marty Johnston led the Rivermen with two goals and an assist in the victory. Randy Rowe added his league-leading 23rd goal of the year for the game-winning goal at 17:59 of the third period. Wranglers forwards Justin Kelly and Doug Wright each scored in the loss.

Saturday, January 10th

Las Vegas 2 vs. Peoria 6

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers lost to the Peoria Rivermen 6-2 Saturday night at the Orleans Arena. Trevor Baker led the Rivermen with two goals and Adam Edinger added two assists in the victory. Wranglers' wingers Ryan Christie and Chris Kenady each scored in the loss.

This Week's Opponents

Alaska Aces – (22-10-3) – LV leads Series 3-1-0

Alaska won the last meeting 3-1 in Anchorage. All-Stars Joe Talbot (17G-21A) and Charles Linglet (14G, 23A) lead the Aces in scoring. Goalie Dan Murphy is 15-8-3 with a 2.42 goals against average. Alaska leads the Pacific Division with 3.40 goals for per game and with a 2.51 goals against average. The Aces give up a league-low 26.83 shots per game.

Bakersfield Condors – (10-18-6) – LV leads series 4-0-0

The Wranglers are undefeated against the Condors this season, with a 5-2 win last time the teams met at the Orleans Arena on December 26th. The Wranglers have outscored the Condors 16-8 in the four previous meetings. Kevin Riehl leads the Condors in scoring with 11 goals and 21 assists in 34 games.
