RECAP OF LAST WEEK'S BOMBERS' ACTION:

January 8, 2004- Atlantic City 5 @ BOMBERS 2- Despite outshooting the Boardwalk Bullies 38-24, including a 16-3 margin in the third period, the Bombers fell 5-2 in this tilt at the Ervin J. Nutter Center. Scott Cameron made a strong debut for the Bombers, tallying a goal and assist, while Olivier Proulx added two assists. Defenseman Alex Johnstone scored the other Bombers' goal.

January 9, 2004- BOMBERS 0 @ Trenton 5- Scott Bertoli scored two short-handed goals late in the second period to vault the Trenton Titans to a 5-0 victory over the Dayton Bombers at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey Friday night. Andrew Allen made 45 saves in the shutout. Matt Zultek, Devin Rask, and Jeff Schmidt also scored for the Titans.

January 10, 2004- BOMBERS 3 @ Trenton 2 (SO)- Goalie Andrew Penner made 40 saves during regulation and overtime play, then proceeded to stop all four skaters in a shootout to lift the Dayton Bombers to a 3-2 victory over the Trenton Titans at Sovereign Bank Arena Saturday night. Penner preserved a 2-2 score by making several stops late in the third period, including a save on Scott Bertoli's point-blank attempt with 8:30 to play after a cross-ice pass from Matt Zultek. In overtime, Penner again denied Bertoli on a close-in chance as part of a seven-save, five-minute period. In the shootout, both Janne Jokila and Olivier Proulx tallied for the Bombers, while Penner denied Chris Pittman, Matt Zultek, Bertoli, and Bryce Cockburn in succession to secure the win. ECHL All-Star Nate Kiser lifted the Bombers to a 2-1 lead at 3:11 of the third period on a slap shot from inside the blueline that deflected past goalie Andrew Allen, but Bertoli's goal at 5:58 tied the game. Devin Rask had given Trenton a 1-0 lead with a first period short-handed goal at 2:14, but Chad Theuer helped the Bombers even the score at one with a power play goal at 19:02. Defenseman Alex Johnstone took a slap shot from the point that caromed off the end boards in front of the goal. Theuer corralled the puck, then sent a backhander past Allen.
