The Situation

At 4-2, the Grizzlies remain off to their best start since joining the ECHL in 2005. Utah has gotten to this point despite playing four of their first six games on the road where they have gone 3-1 against inner-division opponents.

Goaltending

With Nathan Lawson currently with the Grizzlies and Islanders AHL affiliate in Bridgeport, Mike Mole has gotten stronger with repetition for Utah, winning two-straight starts. Mole has a 2.25 goals-against-average and a save percentage of .934 in his last eight periods.

Kinasewich Scoring Update

Captain Ryan Kinasewich continues to lead the team in scoring with two goals and seven assists for nine points in six games after three assists Saturday against the Salmon Kings.

Welcome Dennis Packard

Dennis Packard, who signed with the Grizzlies last week and joined the team in Victoria, had a three-point game Saturday with one goal and two assists. In addition, Packard had eight shots on net and a plus-two in the game. The six-foot-five forward has played 237 games in the AHL.

First Professional Goal

Rookie Tom May scored his first pro goal Saturday in Victoria to give the Grizzlies a 3-2 lead in the third period. May played four years of college hockey at the University of Denver.

Other Stars In Victoria

Veteran Tim Verbeek had three goals in two games in Canada while James Sanford had one goal and three assists as he brings a three-game scoring streak back to the United States.

One-Goal Games

The Grizzlies are currently 3-1 in one-goal games, all of which have been played on the road.

First Meeting With Ontario

This weekend will mark the Grizzlies first-ever meetings with the Ontario, California Reign who are new to the ECHL in 2008-2009. The Reign are currently 4-3 on the young season.
