Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

COMING UP: The Cincinnati Cyclones, the 2008 Kelly Cup champions, play four games at U.S. Bank Arena this week. The Cyclones play host to Reading on Tuesday (Nov. 4) and Wednesday (Nov. 5) and Elmira on Friday (Nov. 7) and Saturday (Nov. 8). All four games will be carried on the club's website at www.cycloneshockey.com.

WEEK IN REVIEW: The Cyclones won both games they played last week. On Friday night (Oct. 31), wearing the Montreal Canadiens jerseys the squad will wear on Nov. 22, Cincinnati won at Reading, 5-3. In a promotion of 'Original Six' teams, the Cyclones received a 36 save performance from Loic Lacasse, who is on assignment from the Canadiens organization. Michael Cohen and Olivier Latendresse each chipped in a pair of goals and Jimmy Kilpatrick, in his Cyclones debut, contributed the game winning goal. On Saturday (Nov. 1), a Kyle Rank third period goal knotted the scores at 4-4 and sent the game to overtime. Following a five minute scoreless extra frame, the contest went to a shootout. Kyle Gajewski stopped 49 shots in regulation time and three of four in the shootout--while Mark Van Guilder slipped the bonus frame tally for the game winner. Steve Makway had a goal in regulation time and his lamp lighter in the shootout's fourth round ended the night for the teams.

THAT'S ROUGH: The Cyclones travelled 662 miles in a 24 hour period and claimed the pair of wins. Cincinnati claimed the 5-3 win in Reading on Friday night and then hopped on the bus for a 530 mile trip back to the Queen City. After arriving home at 8am--the club was on a 4:30pm bus back for Dayton. The weekend came to a close when the team returned home at 11pm.

BETTER THAN LAST YEAR?: On Nov. 3 of last season, the Cyclones took a 3-0 decision at Reading and made the same trip as this season to Dayton. On Nov. 4 of last year, the Bombers snuck a 3-2 triumph away from Cincinnati. This season, the Cyclones won both ends of this road trip.

LAST.....AND LAST: In an unusual twist, the Cyclones were the last team to win a game in the 2007-08 season--claiming the 3-1 win over Las Vegas on June 5. Cincinnati was also the last team to win its first game in the 2008-09 ECHL season with its triumph over Reading on Friday night.

ROAD WARRIORS: The Cyclones are one of just ten ECHL teams with at least two road wins. Cincinnati was 26-8-2 (.750 winning percentage) away from U.S. Bank Arena during the regular season in 2007-08. The Cyclones have already played five road games--sixth-most in the ECHL.

GET OUT EARLY AND SCORE!: The Cyclones are averaging two goals per game in the first period this season. The twelve opening stanza lamplighters are the most in the ECHL, three more than Charlotte and Mississippi--which each has nine.

HAVEN'T WE PLAYED THIS GAME BEFORE?: The Cyclones have had 27 different players play already this season. Cincinnati used 46 players all of last season, in claiming the Kelly Cup. Head Coach Chuck Weber has used six different lineups this season.

PROMOTIONS (PLAYERS): The Cyclones had Matt Macdonald recalled early last week and on Saturday Matt Syroczynski was recalled by the Milwaukee Admirals. Four players under Cincinnati contract have appeared in AHL games this season (Macdonald, Syroczynski, Mark Van Guilder and T.J. McElroy). Another (Stephen Werner) was assigned to the Cyclones and recalled. These five players have already played 17 games at the AHL level this season.

RANK-ING AMONG THE LEADERS: Cyclones forward Kyle Rank has points in each of the first six games this season--the only Cincinnati player to accomplish the feat. He is one game shy of tying for the ECHL lead in that category this season.

ROUGH AND TUMBLE: The Cyclones are third in the ECHL in average penalty minutes per game at 28. The club has drawn 59 minor penalties, sixth-most in the league. Cincinnati has been shorthanded 49 times already this season--an average of more than eight times per game.

PROMOTIONS (EVENTS): This week, there are plenty of promotions with the Cyclones and their four games. Tuesday night (Nov. 4), it is Bye-Bye Bush Night. This is an evening designed to get away from the political events. Wednesday night (Nov. 5), it is a Wet Wednesday, with one dollar Pabst Blue Ribbon and Miller High Life twelve ounce beverages. Friday night (Nov. 7) is Faith Night, with New Method performing. Saturday night (Nov. 8) is Throwback Night--with the Cyclones wearing Cincinnati Stingers jerseys. Hot dogs, pizza slices and selected domestic beers are all priced at one dollar and popcorn is 50 cents. Not to mention $7 tickets for the contest. All four games have 7:30pm faceoffs.

MILLER LITE CYCLONES COACHES SHOW: The Miller Lite Cyclones Coaches Show will be held tonight from 7-8pm at Jefferson Hall at Newport on the Levee. Head Coach Chuck Weber and a pair of players are usually on hand each week. Defenseman Paul Lynch and goaltender Kyle Gajewski are the special guests this week.

MAX FM CARRIES THE GAMES: The Cyclones will have 30 games carried on MAX-FM (97.7 and 99.5) this season. The next broadcast will come from Elmira on Friday, November 14. The broadcast airs at 7:15pm, with faceoff set to come at 7:30pm. All games are carried on the club's website at: www.cycloneshockey.com.

TICKETS! GET YOUR TICKETS!: Tickets for all Cincinnati Cyclones games can be purchased through TicketMaster at 513-562-4949 or by using their website at: www.ticketmaster.com.
