Tifu assigned to Blades from AHL

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron today announced forward Yannick Tifu has been assigned to the club from the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League.

Tifu (pronounced: TEE-foo) was acquired by the Everblades in an August trade with the Dayton Bombers, but has spent the entire start of the 2008-09 season with the River Rats. The 23-year-old has played in nine games with Albany, registering four penalty minutes.

Last year Tifu spent the majority of the season with the Bombers, recording an impressive 57 points (15g, 42a) in 39 games, while also earning a trip to the 2008 ECHL All-Star Game. Tifu spent the remainder of the season splitting time in the AHL with the Rochester Americans where he posted three points in 15 games and Albany where he notched five points in nine games.

Tifu will be joining the team in time for tonight's game at Gwinnett.
