BOMBERS NOTES

SUNDAY WRAP-UP: The Bombers fell to the Johnstown Chiefs on Sunday afternoon 4-2 as the Chiefs special teams units were in full effect. Jumping out to an early 2-0 in the first on shorthanded and power play goals, the Chiefs were able to maintain their lead throughout the game. Justin Bowers and Mike McLean scored for the Bombers in the first and second period, respectively, but Johnstown answered back with 2 goals of their own in the second period. Bombers goalie David Shantz was 24 of 28 on the night, while Johnstown's Kris Mayotte was 19 of 21.

WORTH A SHOT: The Bombers fell to the Cincinnati Cyclones Saturday night in a shootout, 5-4. Despite outshooting Cincinnati 53-27, the Bombers were unable to get the win as the Cyclones netted three of four goals in the shootout. As in the previous two meetings between the teams Cincinnati jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but Dayton was able to tie the game in the first with power play goals from Jarret Lukin and Greg Labenski. The Cyclones regained the lead in the second, but the Bombers came back in the third as newly acquired forward Tom Zanoski and defenseman Dominic D'Amour gave the Bombers their first lead of the night. However, the Cyclones once again spoiled the Bombers lead in the closing minutes to tie the game at 4 goals a piece. Following a scoreless overtime period, the game headed to a shootout, where Cincinnati goalie Kyle Gajewski prevailed over Dayton's David Shantz to earn the "W".

THERE'S A FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING: Three Bombers players scored their first goals of the season in Saturday night's contest against Cincinnati. FIRING SQUAD: Saturday night saw the Bombers fire a season-high 53 shots on goal. The team's previous high was 48 when they faced the Cyclones on October 18. The Bombers also set a season-high in shots in a period with 24 in the third.

WELCOME ABOARD: The Bombers claimed forward Tom Zanoski off waivers from Stockton last week. Zanoski, a Brampton, Ontario native, played his first game with the Bombers on Friday night in Wheeling. He came to Dayton with one point, an assist, after three games with the Thunder. Zanoski picked up his first point as a Bomber on Saturday when he scored a goal against Cincinnati.

ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END: Forwards Jarret Lukin and Dan Riedel both saw their 5-game point streaks come to an end on Sunday. In that span, Lukin recorded 1 goal and 6 assists, while Riedel tallied 5 goals and 2 helpers.

TWICE IS NICE: Last week was full of multi-point games for the Bombers. On Saturday, Greg Labenski and Jarret Lukin each had a goal and an assist.
