Biloxi, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves closed out the month of October with a 7-2 win over Gwinnett at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Friday night, before dropping the second game of the series 5-4 at home on Saturday evening.

BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves power play went 4-for-7, Frederik Cabana and Mike Wirll each had two goals and Jason Tejchma had four assists as they defeated the Gwinnett Gladiators 7-2 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Friday evening.

The Sea Wolves exploded out of the gate, grabbing the lead just 23 seconds into the game when Mathieu Melanson's sharp-angle shot bounced off the glove of Gwinnett goaltender Charlie Effinger to give the Sea Wolves a 1-0 lead. With the Sea Wolves on a four-minute power play, Jason Tejchma found Frederik Cabana open at the right post and Cabana ripped a wrist shot past Effinger for his first Sea Wolves goal and a 2-0 lead at 7:33. Mike Wirll picked up his second goal of the season when his wrist shot from between the circles beat Effinger up high at 10:56. Alexandre Parent kept the offense rolling when he redirected Chris Zarb's shot through Effinger's legs with the Sea Wolves on the power play at 19:24.

Cabana's second goal of the game staked the Sea Wolves to a 5-0 lead when be broke down the right wing and launched a wrist shot that beat Effinger over the catching glove at the 2:55 mark of the second period.

Bruce Graham used his 6-6, 235-pound frame to his advantage as he went to the front of the net and redirected a shot from Brad Schell to get Gwinnett on the board with a power-play goal at 6:30 of the second period.

Mike Wirll picked up his second of the game as the Sea Wolves went on a 5-on-3 power play as Gwinnett's Myles Stoesz earned a charging major, a fighting major, and a game misconduct after plowing into Mississippi goaltender Ryan Munce behind the goal and seconds later Bruce Graham went to the box for interference. Wirll was able to tap in a loose puck in the goalmouth at 16:36.

Ryan Cruthers would add another power-play goal at 18:34 to ice the Sea Wolves win.

Mississippi was 4-for-7 on the power play, and Ryan Munce made 36 saves to earn the win.

BILOXI, MS - What started out as a lopsided game ended as a nail-biter, with the Mississippi Sea Wolves battling in the third period and nearly tying the game with an extra attacker but ultimately falling to the Gwinnett Gladiators 5-4 on Saturday night at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

Brandon Kaleniecki converted a pass from Ryan Mahrle into a 1-0 Gladiator lead at the 5:44 mark of the first period. At 9:56, Gwinnett's Andy Brandt rifled a one-timer off of a Bruce Graham pass past Sea Wolves netminder Ryan Munce for the Gladiators' first power-play goal of the game.

Travis Lisabeth picked up his 100th goal in a Sea Wolves uniform as he fired a shot past the Gladiators' Kevin Nastiuk at 3:58 of the second period. Pat Bateman would restore Gwinnett's two-goal lead with his second goal of the season on the power play at 6:38 of the second period. Brad Schell would give the Gladiators a 4-1 lead going into the locker room when he buried a breakaway through Ryan Munce's legs at 13:56.

Mississippi cut the Gladiators lead to two when Frederik Cabana scored his third goal in his last two games at 5:25 of the second, firing a shot over Nastiuk's glove.

Bruce Graham hammered home his fourth goal of the season and extended his scoring streak against the Sea Wolves to three games when he scored at 6:39 of the third period.

Matt Deschamps would cut the visitors' lead to two with his first of the season at 12:48 of the third.

With a two-man advantage, Jason Tejchma found a loose puck in a goalmouth schmozzle and poked it in for his first goal of the season at 16:18. Despite a late flurry of offensive pressure, Gwinnett held on for the victory.

Ryan Munce made 31 saves on 36 shots, taking the loss, and the Sea Wolves power play was 1-for-5.

Travis Lisabeth scored his 100th goal in a Sea Wolves uniform in Saturday's loss to Gwinnett... Lisabeth ranks third all-time in goals by a Sea Wolves player, behind Dave Paradise (106) and current head coach Steffon Walby (117)... Frederik Cabana is averaging two points per game (3gp, 3g, 3a) since making his Sea Wolves debut on October 26 against Charlotte... With 28 goals scored in seven games this season, Mississippi is tied for 2nd in the ECHL in goals for, and the team's average of four goals per game ranks second in the league behind Wheeling (8gp, 37gf, 4.625 gf/g).

Mudslingin' Madness!

The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced today that the November 5 home game against the Augusta Lynx and the November 7 home game against the Wheeling Nailers will be "Mudslingin' Madness" nights! Fans who bring in a candidate's election sign from this past election season will receive $2 off the cost of a ticket at the box office. If a sign happens to have mud on it, the fan bringing it in will receive a $4 discount on any game ticket!
