MOLINE, Ill.---Goaltender Ondrej Pavelec turned away all 25 shots he faced and right wing Grant Stevenson provided the offense as the Chicago Wolves beat the Quad City Flames, 1-0, at the I Wireless Center on Friday night for their first win of the 2008-09 campaign. Head Coach Don Granato picked up his first win behind the Wolves bench in his third try of the season behind the goaltending of Pavelec (1-2-0), who picked up his fifth career shutout in the victory. The second-year pro has allowed two goals or fewer in all three appearances this season. After a scoreless first period, Chicago (1-1-1-0) got on the board 67 seconds into the middle frame. Defenseman Grant Lewis fired a long wrister from the near point and Stevenson deflected the shot in mid air past a screened Quad City (1-2-1-0) goaltender Matt Keetley. Keetley (1-3-0) posted 24 saves in the loss. Chicago has been held to one goal in each of the first three games this season after averaging 3.75 goals-per-game last year, which led the American Hockey League. The Wolves will raise the 2008 Calder Cup Championship banner when they open their 40-game home slate against the Peoria Rivermen at the Allstate Arena on Saturday at 7 p.m.
