Matt Pettinger scored the night's first point, but it was Mark Cullen's third period goal that confirmed Manitoba's first win of the season, 3-1, in front of 5806 fans at the MTS Centre. AHL veterans Michel Ouellet and Jason Krog extended their point streak to three games while Moose netminder Cory Schneider made 26 acrobatic saves on 27 attempts.

The tempo of play was quick right out of the gate as both teams were seeking to post their first win of the season. It only took the Amerks 26 seconds to register their first penalty as Janis Sprukts was reprimanded for hooking. Rochester's PK line-up looked sharp allowing only one shot on former Brandon Wheat King Tyler Plante.

The teams wouldn't be at even strength for long as Scott Howes, who was making his debut as a Moose, was penalized for hooking at 3:57. The penalty expired and both clubs' sat even with two shots.

With the Americans down a man due to Kenndal McArdle's hooking penalty, the Moose were quick to attack. After circling the puck behind the Americans net, Jason Krog slipped the short pass to Matt Pettinger, who tucked it in behind Plante putting Manitoba in the first lead of the game.

With only twenty-one seconds into the middle frame, McArdle was sent to the box, for the second time of the night, this stay for interference. The Moose dominated in the Amerk's end but couldn't extend their lead in the short two-minutes.

At 11:20 the Moose found themselves benefiting for the fourth time of the night, as a delay of game penalty was called against Rochester and served by Franklin MacDonald. Manitoba was able to put extra pressure on Plante, but no shots got passed the 21-year-old tender.

Eager to break their goose-egg, the Amerks found their scoring touch with centre David Brine who shot a bullet from the point to get the visitors on the scoreboard early in the third.

Manitoba reacted at 13:18 when Raymond Sawada's pass was completed by Mark Cullen, putting the Moose back in the lead 2-1.

With the clock ticking down, Rochester opted for an extra attacker, pulling Plante from his net with 1:00 remaining. But six skaters wouldn't be enough as rookie Guillaume Desbiens took a long shot for the Moose and netted his first of the season on an empty net, confirming the final score at 3-1.
