Three different goal scorers in Matt Pettinger, Mark Cullen and Guillaume Desbiens gave Manitoba its first win of the season as second-year netmidner Cory Schneider made 26 saves to record his first win.

David Brine provided the Amerks' lone goal to earn the game's second star honors. Tyler Plante had 28 saves in his second start of the season in the losing effort.

Pettinger gave the Moose an early 1-0 lead five minutes into the opening period on the power play to notch his first goal of the season. Jason Krog and Michel Ouellet each earned assists on the play to extend their team lead to four points (1+3) apiece.

After a scoreless second period, Brine found the back of the net for his first tally of the season at 7:07 of the final frame to tie the game at one. Picking up assists on the play were defensemen Franklin MacDonald and Jason Garrison.

Manitoba quickly regained the lead after Cullen scored six minutes later to lift the hometown Moose to a 2-1 lead. As Rochester attempted to even the score by pulling Plante for an extra attacker, Desbiens secured the win for the Moose with an empty net insurance goal with just 54 seconds left in regulation.
