Syracuse Crunch News Release

Binghamton, NY - The Syracuse Crunch overcame a two-goal deficit and won their 18th consecutive regular season game dating back to last season by defeating the Binghamton Senators in overtime tonight, 3-2 at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

The two clubs held each other to a scoreless first period, as neither team could convert on two power play opportunities each. Binghamton outshot the Crunch 11-5 in the frame.

Binghamton got on the board first a little over seven minutes into the second stanza when Ilya Zubov's shot from the right face-off dot beat Crunch starter Dan LaCosta over the left shoulder for the 1-0 Senators lead.

The Senators went up 2-0 when, with Crunch left wing Kirill Starkov in the box for holding, Zubov's shot from the point deflected off of Zack Smith and past LaCosta.

The Crunch comeback started when Clay Wilson notched his first of the year on the power play as his wrister from the point found its way through a screened Brian Elliott to make it 2-1.

Syracuse tied the game just 1:20 later when Craig MacDonald found a loose puck in front of the net and pounded it past Elliott for the game-tying goal.

LaCosta had to turn away 14 shots in the third from the B-Sens and had 36 saves in the game en route to his third win of the season.

Neither team could capitalize in overtime, but shootout goals from Mike York, Maksim Mayorov, John Vigilante and MacDonald propelled the Crunch to the victory.
