
Amerks Kickoff Two-Game Road Set Tonight In Manitoba

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans hit the road tonight to face the Manitoba Moose at the MTS Centre. The faceoff is set for 8:30 p.m. EST and can be heard live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live.
The North Division matchup is the first of a two-game set between the Amerks and Moose this weekend and the first of eight meetings this season. The Amerks and Moose will battle again in game two of the mini series on Saturday, October 18th at the MTS Centre with gametime slated for 8:30 p.m. EST. The game will be carried live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live.
Rochester was 1-6-1 last season against Manitoba and is 15-20-1 all-time against the Vancouver Canucks' affiliate.
Rochester (0-3-0-0) enters the contest in search of its first win of the 2008-09 American Hockey League season after dropping a 3-1 decision to the Binghamton Senators October 12th at The Blue Cross Arena. The loss was the Amerks' third in three nights.
The Amerks have scored five goals through the first three games, all coming off the stick of different players. Veteran forward Janis Sprukts and rookie defenseman Jason Garrison remain tied as the top point-getters for the Amerks, each with a goal and an assist, respectively.
Manitoba (0-2-0-0), is also seeking its first win, coming off back-to-back losses to the Hamilton Bulldogs. The 2007-08 AHL MVP and scoring champion, Jason Krog leads his team in points with three (1+2) in two games. Last season, Krog finished as the top scorer in the 2008 postseason with 38 points (12+26) to lead the Chicago Wolves to their second Calder Cup championship. Also with three points (1+2) this year for the Moose is right winger, Michel Ouellet. Second-year goaltender Cory Schneider is currently ranked 11th among league netminders with a 2.01 goals-against average and a .889 save percentage.
The Amerks return home on Friday, October 24th as the Quad City Flames make their only trip of the season to The Blue Cross Arena. The 7:35 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live. The game will be the first of two scheduled meetings between the two teams this season.
The game is part of scout night. All Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts along with their families and friends can purchase discounted tickets to see the Amerks take on the Flames. Tickets can be purchased at $10.00 - $12.00 depending on seating arrangements. There will also be a parade on the ice for all scouts during the first intermission.
