'Gades Play Five Games in Six Nights this Week

The Richmond Renegades are 18-16-3 after going 0-2-2 last week. The ‘Gades are in a three way tie for fourth place in the Northeast Division with Reading and Trenton. The ‘Gades are in a stretch of eight games in 10 days.

THE WEEK AHEAD (ALL TIMES EASTERN)

Tuesday, January 7 @ South Carolina 7:00 PM

GAME NOTES: The first of two meetings and the ‘Gades only visit to South Carolina this season. The ‘Gades first trip to North Charleston since 3/10/01 when the ‘Gades lost 5-1. The Stingrays beat Richmond 3-2 in their only meeting last season at Richmond.

Wednesday, January 8 vs. South Carolina 7:05 PM

GAME NOTES: The second of two meetings and the Stingrays only visit to Richmond this season. Stingrays roster includes ex-‘Gade Rod Taylor.

Friday, January 10 @ Greensboro 7:30 PM

GAME NOTES: The sixth of eight meetings and the third of four in Greensboro. ‘Gades are 2-2-1 vs. the Generals, 1-0-1 in Greensboro. Three of the five meetings have gone to overtime. Lars Pettersen has five points vs. Greensboro. Chris Bell has five vs. Richmond.

Saturday, January 11 vs. Atlantic City 7:35 PM

GAME NOTES: The sixth of eight meetings and the third of four here. The ‘Gades are 2-3 vs. the Bullies, 2-0 at home. Both ‘Gades wins have come in overtime. The Bullies are 0-2-4 all-time at Richmond, with only one game decided by more than one goal. Lars Pettersen has five points vs. the Bullies. Kevin Colley has eight vs. Richmond.

Sunday, January 12 vs. Greenville 5:05 PM

GAME NOTES: The second of three meetings and the only visit of the defending Kelly Cup champs to Richmond this season. Grrrowl beat the ‘Gades 3-0 in November. Jayme Platt made 34 saves. Matt Demarski had two points.

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades forced overtime on a shorthanded goal by Peter Hogan in the third period. Richmond killed off two power plays in overtime but lost in the shootout. Marc Magliarditi made 39 saves.

Friday, January 3 @ Charlotte LOSS 4-3 (SO)

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades carried a lead into the final :39 seconds but Charlotte scored to force OT and won in the shootout. Brad Church had a goal and assist in his return from the AHL. Takahito Suzuki scored twice for Charlotte. The ‘Gades were 2-6 on the power play.

Saturday, January 4 vs. Greensboro LOSS 5-2

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades twice rallied from two goal deficits but the Generals scored twice in the final 1:43 to pull away. Brad Church and David Brosseau had a goal and assist. The ‘Gades out-shot the Generals 37-25.

Sunday, January 5 @ Atlantic City LOSS 5-2

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades fell behind 2-0 in the first period but Peter Hogan scored to make it 2-1. The Bullies broke the game open with two goals 15 seconds apart in the final minute of the second period. The ‘Gades out-shot the Bullies 32-16 despite firing only two shots in the first period.

‘GADES NOTES: The Renegades passed the half-way mark of the season following Saturday's game. Richmond has played 12 of the last 14 games short-benched due to injury. Brad Church returned from an AHL call-up to Cleveland. Justin Plamondon was re-assigned to Binghamton of the AHL. Jayme Filipowicz and John Zion remain on AHL call-ups. Tyler Palmer made his ‘Gades debut Tuesday following a trade with Jackson. Palmer is the 31st player used by the ‘Gades this season. Ryan Van Buskirk has missed the last nine games with a shoulder injury. Richard Pitirri has missed two games with a shoulder injury. The ‘Gades three game road unbeaten streak ended Sunday. Richmond is winless in their last four games and 1-6-3 in their last 10. The ‘Gades have dropped three straight shootouts after winning their first seven overtime decisions. The ‘Gades have lost four in a row at home after winning 12 of their first 14. Richmond's streak of 21 straight penalty kills ended Sunday when they surrendered a season high three power play goals vs. Atlantic City. The ‘Gades held the Bullies to 16 shots in that game, their second lowest total of the season. Richmond has out-shot the opposition by 28 in the last two games, both losses. Richmond has out-shot the opposition in 11 of 16 losses. The ‘Gades had a season-low two shots in the first period at Atlantic City. Richmond plays five games in six nights this week to finish a stretch of eight games in 10 days. Three of the ‘Gades next five games are against Southeast Division opponents. Richmond is 2-3 vs. the Southeast. Peter Hogan has six goals in his last 10 games. His career high for a season is seven (with Florida in ‘00-'01). Brad Church three game goal scoring streak ended Sunday. Lars Pettersen has points in six straight games. He has six points in his last three games.
