
Mississippi Takes Three of Six Points over Weekend

BILOXI, Miss. â The Mississippi Sea Wolves grabbed three of a six possible points last week over three games. The Sea Wolves are in second place in the Southwest Division, two points behind the first place Louisiana IceGators.
After 39 games, the Sea Wolves have compiled a record of 23-12-4. At home, Mississippi has posted a 14-7-3 record. The Sea Wolves are 9-5-1 on the road.
Last week, the Sea Wolves started with a 3-2 shootout win on Friday over the Columbus Cottonmouths. The Pensacola Ice Pilots outlasted Mississippi 5-4 in overtime on Saturday. Then on Sunday at Arkansas, the RiverBlades beat the Sea Wolves 7-2.

Game 6 of 12 in the regular season head-to-head meetings. The Sea Wolves season series against the RiverBlades is 2-2-1 this season.
Arkansas handled Mississippi on Sunday, 7-2 at ALLTEL Arena. RiverBlades all-star Buddy Smith along with Jason Bermingham and Terry Marchant each had one goal and two assists in the win. Arkansas forward Mike Cirillo notched two goals and Ernie Hartlieb picked up three assists. The Sea Wolves goal scorers were all-star Jim Baxter and Stu Pietersma.
The Sea Wolves lead the all-time series against the RiverBlades, 15-8-3. At ALLTEL Arena, Mississippi is 10-4-1 against Arkansas.
Saturday, Jan. 11 at Jackson Bandits â 7:05 p.m. â Mississippi Coliseum, Jackson
Game 9 of 12 in the regular season head-to-meetings. Mississippi is 6-1-1 against Jackson this season and leads the battle for the Nextel Cup, 13 points to 4. At the Mississippi Coliseum this season, the Sea Wolves are 2-1-1.
The Sea Wolves have won all four games in Biloxi, including the last meeting between the teams, 4-3 on December 29. Dave Paradise scored the game-winner and Greg Gardner backstopped Mississippi to victory by making 24 saves. Adam Hauser suffered the loss in net for Jackson.
All-star Steffon Walby leads the Sea Wolves with seven goals and five assists in five games against the Bandits. Walby is also a plus-8. All-star Jim Baxter has collected 10 assists in eight games.
Jeff Bes leads Jackson with four goals and four assists for eight points in eight games against Mississippi.
The Sea Wolves record against the Bandits in the all-time series is 20-9-4. Mississippi's all-time road record at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson is 10-6-2.

Player of the Week:
All-star defenseman Jim Baxter had points in each of the three Sea Wolves games last week. The 23-year-old native of Brantford, Ontario picked up an assist in the shootout victory over Columbus. He collected a helper in the overtime loss against Pensacola and scored in the loss at Arkansas.
Goaltender of the Week:
Greg Gardner posted a record of 1-1-1 in his three games for Mississippi last week. The 27-year-old native of Mississauga, Ontario has an overall record of 18-9-4 this season.
Injured Reserve:
Left wing Josh Bennett was placed on the 7-day injured reserve on Saturday. Goaltender Mike Buckley and defenseman David Cornacchia remain on the 30-day IR.
Call-up:
Forward Kent Davyduke was loaned to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League on Monday.
