Royals Finish Season-High Five-Game Road Swing

The Reading Royals snapped a season high three-game losing streak for the fourth time this season. The Royals picked up their tenth win on the road against Greensboro last Thursday, 5-3. Friday night, the Generals and Royals met again but Greensboro got revenge winning 5-1 behind 48 saves from Jamie Hodson. The Royals five-game road stand ended in Roanoke on Sunday with the Royals winning 5-4 in regulation over the Express...The win for Reading was their first against Roanoke this year.

This week the Royals will play just two games both in the Sovereign Center. Reading will take on the defending Kelly Cup Champion Greenville Grrrowl for the first time in franchise history Friday and Saturday night in back-to-back contests.

Friday, January 10 vs. Greenville Sovereign Center 7:05PM

GAME NOTES: History will be made this weekend as the Royals battle the Greenville Grrrowl for the first time ever. Greenville won the Kelly Cup Championship last season with three current Royals...All-Star defenseman Simon Tremblay, and forwards Colin Pepperall and Steve Rymsha.

Saturday, January 11 vs. Greenville Sovereign Center 7:05PM

GAME NOTES: Ex-Royal Mikko Sivonen makes his first appearance in the Sovereign Center since being traded to New Orleans last season. Sivonen signed as a free agent in Greenville this season. Currently, he ranks 4th on the team on scoring with 16 goals and 32 points.

GAME NOTES: The Reading Royals snapped their season high three-game losing streak in Greensboro 5-3. The Royals exploded for three second period goals to take the lead 3-1 after 40-minutes. Five different Royals scored in the contest and Jeff Sanger picked up his sixth win in seven tries.

Friday, January 3 @ Greensboro Greensboro Coliseum 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: Reading and Greensboro met for the fifth time this season and final time in Greensboro. The Generals exploded for three second period goals to get revenge on the Royals winning 5-1. Matt Chandler picked up his first professional natural hat trick to lead the Generals. Reading dropped to 2-3-0 against Greensboro this season with one more meeting remaining in Reading on January 18, 2003.

Sunday, January 5 @ Roanoke Roanoke Civic Center 4:05PM

GAME NOTES: The Reading Royals knocked off the Roanoke Express for the first time this season in four tries, 5-4 in regulation. Jeff Sanger stopped 38 shots in the Reading win. Steve Rymsha picked up his 18th tally of the season with 1:44 on the clock to clinch the win. Rymsha also added two assists for Reading.

Steve Rymsha is not suffering the sophomore jinx. Rimmer has 13 goals in his last 14 games and 15 goals in the past 18 games to move up to 3rd in scoring on the team behind All-Stars Brad Rooney and Brian McCullough. Rymsha added a goal in the Royals 5-3 win Thursday in Greensboro and tallied a goal (GW) and three points in the Royals first win over Roanoke Sunday.
