'Gades Finish Season this Week

The Richmond Renegades are 33-30-5 after going 2-0 last week. The ‘Gades are in sixth place in the Northeast Division. Richmond now has a three game road winning streak. The ‘Gades finish a nine game road trip this week before coming home to wrap up the season with games Saturday and Sunday at The Coliseum. All three Richmond opponents are in a furious playoff race (four clubs within two points battling for three spots in the Northeast).

GAME NOTES: The eighth and final meeting and the third in Trenton. The ‘Gades are 4-2-1 vs. the Titans and unbeaten in regulation in the last five meetings. Richmond is 1-1-1 at Trenton. Lars Pettersen has 10 points vs. the Titans. Adam Edinger has nine vs. the ‘Gades.

Friday, March 28 @ Roanoke 7:35 PM

GAME NOTES: The ninth of 10 meetings and the fifth and final in Roanoke. Richmond is 3-5 vs. the Express, 1-3 at Roanoke. Richard Pitirri has 10 points vs. the Express. Dan Carlson has 13 points vs. Richmond. The ‘Gades are 12-45 on the power play (26.7%) and have two shorthanded goals vs. Roanoke.

Saturday, March 29 @ Charlotte 7:35 PM

GAME NOTES: The ninth and final meeting of the season and the fourth and final in Richmond. The ‘Gades are 2-4-2 vs. the Checkers, 2-1 at home. Richmond is winless in their last five games vs. Charlotte. Lars Pettersen has seven points vs. the Checkers. Three Checkers have nine vs. Richmond.

GAME NOTES: The 10th and final meeting and the fifth in Richmond. ‘Gades are 2-2 vs. the Express at home. Final regular season game for both clubs and the eighth in 10 days for the Express.

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades rallied from three deficits, including a Columbia goal in the first 30 seconds. Richmond erupted for three third period goals, two by Brad Church. Lars Pettersen had a goal and two assists. Dan Lombard made 39 saves. The win snapped a seven game Inferno winning streak.

Saturday, March 22 @ Greenville WIN 5-2

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead en route to their third straight road win. Russ Bartlett, Dan Vandermeer, and Lars Pettersen each had a goal and assist. Dan Lombard turned aside 41 shots. Sandy Lamarre scored his first goal as a ‘Gade. Richard Pitirri also scored for Richmond. David Brosseau and Ryan Van Buskirk chipped in with two assists.

‘GADES NOTES: Richmond carries a three game winning streak into the final week of the regular season. The ‘Gades three game road winning streak is their second longest of the season (the ‘Gades won four straight on the road 10/27-11/4). Richmond has scored 16 goals in their last three games. Richmond needs to win one of their remaining four games to wrap up a fifth straight .500+ season. The ‘Gades surpassed last season's win total of 32 by beating Greenville Saturday. The ‘Gades are 3-2-2 on their season-long nine game road trip. Dan Vandermeer made his AHL debut Sunday with Cincinnati. Vandermeer played in one game with the Ducks and returned to Richmond. He is the 10th Renegade to earn an AHL call-up this season. Marc Magliarditi returned to Richmond from Cleveland of the AHL. He played one game with the Barons and stopped all 20 shots he faced in a relief effort. Daniel Goneau (Lowell), and Garret Stroshein (Portland) are currently away on call-ups. Peter Hogan returned from Cleveland to re-join the ‘Gades lineup Friday. Richmond signed former Augusta forward Sandy Lamarre Friday. He came out of retirement to score his first ‘Gades goal Saturday. Josh Harrold is out for the season with a broken orbital bone. Nick Lent missed the last two games following surgery but is expected back in the lineup this week. Dan Lombard made a season high 41 saves vs. Greenville Saturday. The ‘Gades have allowed 86 shots on goal in their last two games. The ‘Gades are 24-26 (92.3%) killing penalties on the road trip. Lars Pettersen has points in five straight games. Jon Zion has a four game scoring streak. Nick Lent, Dan Vandermeer, Richard Pitirri, and David Brosseau have three game scoring streaks. Richmond is 8-2-2 in their last 12 games. The ‘Gades have won seven straight home games by a combined score of 32-13. The club record for consecutive home wins is eight during the ‘92-'93 season. The ‘Gades 24 home wins is the third highest total in club history with two home games remaining (the club record is 27 in ‘95-'96; Richmond won 25 home games in ‘94-'95, and 24 in ‘98-'99). Magliarditi has moved past Jeff Salajko into sixth place on the ECHL career wins list with 133. His next target is ex-Renegades goaltendter Sandy Allan who is fifth with 137. The ‘Gades have lost their last five overtime/shootouts after winning their first seven. The ‘Gades play four games in five nights this week to close the regular season. Pettersen is tied for 13th in the ECHL in scoring. Leon Hayward leads ECHL rookies with four shorthanded goals. Jon Zion is sixth in the league in points by a defenseman and leads the league's rookie defensemen in points. The ‘Gades are fifth in the league in penalty killing and are tied for sixth in shorthanded goals. Richmond is the least penalized club in the ECHL.

Gord will also visit with Sports Radio 910's Mike Maniscalco every Thursday at 6:05 PM. ‘Gades broadcaster John Emmett visits with Big Al each Friday at 8:50 AM.
