Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors of the West Coast Hockey League have suffered two significant losses for the club, placing defenseman Christoffer Norgren and left wing Paul Rosebush on Season-ending IR today.

Both players left Saturday's game against Anchorage injured. Norgren was taken to the hospital after being driven head-first into the boards by Aces winger Jason Boily, who was given a five-minute major for boarding and a game misconduct for his actions. The Swedish native was given a CAT scan while at the hospital, revealing fracture in his fifth cervical vertebrae. He also sustained a pressure cut on the head from the impact, requiring four stitches. After missing 20 games with a broken foot, he was playing in his second game since being activated from injured reserve. He will wear a special neck brace for 12 weeks.

Rosebush broke his right index finger in an incident with Aces defenseman Ruslan Batyrshin. He received a knee-on-knee hit by Batyrshin, who was also given a major penalty and a game misconduct. Rosebush received a double minor for roughing when he retaliated against Batyrshin, damaging the finger. Earlier in the game, he had scored his 22nd goal of the season, extending his goal-scoring streak to seven consecutive games with a goal.

Norgren has missed over 30% of the team's games, and has 5g-11a-16pts in 43 games. He was a +10 with 78 penalty minutes. Rosebush's seven-game streak was tied for the longest in the league this season. He had 22g-17a-39pts in 61 games with a +23 and 143 penalty minutes.

"This is obviously a big blow to the team," said Head Coach Paul Kelly. "To lose two character players like this hurts the team, and is unfortunate for them. They've been a big part of our success this season and their presence on the ice will be missed. We've been through some rough times already this season, and we'll just have to pull through together.

The team is hosting their annual Tip-A-Condor dinner at the Buck Owens Crystal Palace Steakhouse tonight, from 6:00-9:00pm. Admission is just $25 for adults and $10 for children 10 and under. There will be an auction at 7:30pm, live music and Condors celebrity karaoke.

The Condors are hosting a pair of games this weekend, including Friday night against the very same Anchorage Aces at 7:00pm. The first 2,000 fans will receive a Condors CD wallet, sponsored by KUZZ 107 and Sierra Mist.

Individual tickets can be purchased at the Centennial Garden Box Office, which is open from 10:00am-6:00pm Monday through Saturday, by calling Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at ticketmaster.com or stopping by any Ticketmaster location. Season tickets and group outings may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Condors office next to Centennial Garden.

Condors droppings: The Condors Closet, the team's retail outlet across the street from Centennial Garden, is having a "Milestone March" sale to commemorate Paul Willett's 1,000th career point. All Willett Bobblehead dolls are half price with the purchase of any Condors shirt.
