
Baxter Placed on Injured Reserve, Pietersma Activated

BILOXI, Miss. â Mississippi Sea Wolves coach Bob Woods announced today defenseman Jim Baxter has been placed on the 7-day injured reserve and right wing Stu Pietersma (PEET-uhrs-mah) has been activated from the injured reserve.
Baxter, 23, leads all East Coast Hockey League defensemen with 74 points. He has tallied 16 goals and collected 58 assists in 68 games. The 6-foot-3 and 215-pound native of Brantford, Ontario was named the alternate captain of the Southern Conference Compuware / All-Star Game held in Estero, Florida on January 21. Baxter is in his second season with the Sea Wolves and fourth year of professional hockey.
Pietersma, 21, leads the ECHL with 31 fighting majors, which is also tied for the team-record set by Kevin Evans in 1996-97. The 6-foot-2 and 225-pound native of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta has scored three goals, added six assists for nine points, plus he has picked up 250 penalty minutes in 52 games with Mississippi this season. Pietersma was acquired off waivers from the Wheeling Nailers on October 21. He registered 19 penalty minutes over three games with Wheeling to begin his rookie season.
