Royals Finish the Season Playing For the Fans

Reading ended this week with a stretch of six games in eight days. The Royals battled through injuries and call-ups to a 1-3-0 mark. Tuesday, the Royals continued their four game road swing in Cincinnati beating the Cyclones 5-2. Reading got revenge on Cincinnati for the 13-2 shallacking suffered in December of last year. The Royals finished the road trip in Toledo on Wednesday losing to the Storm in a tight 3-1 decision. Toledo scored the go-ahead goals midway through the third period. The Royals returned home to finish off 2002-03 in the Sovereign Center on Friday versus Trenton and Saturday against Atlantic City. The Titans edged the Royals 3-1 on Friday and the Bullies stunned Reading 9-3 on Saturday.

The Royals finish their sophomore season on the road beginning in Lexington on Friday night. Saturday, the Royals make their way back home battling Roanoke in Virginia. Sunday, Atlantic City and Reading tangle for the final time afternoon in Boardwalk Hall.

Friday, March 28 @ Lexington Rupp Arena 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: The Royals will be making their third and final trip to Lexington to take on the Men O' War. Reading has posted a 1-0-1 record against Lexington this season. Both contests have gone past regulation. The Royals prevailed 3-2 in the first meeting in a shootout on December 20, 2002...The Men-O-War edged Reading 3-2 on February 21 in overtime.

Saturday, March 29 @ Roanoke Roanoke Civic Center 7:35PM

GAME NOTES: This is the 13th meeting all-time between Reading and Roanoke. The two Royals wins against the Express have come in the Roanoke Civic Center. Roanoke overcame a three goal deficit to stun Reading 5-4 two weeks ago. Jason Jaffray and Rick Kowalsky lead all scorers in this series with 15 points.

Sunday, March 30 @ Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall 3:05PM

GAME NOTES: Reading and Atlantic City meet for the ninth time this season and fourth time in Boardwalk Hall. The Bullies beat Reading a week ago in Reading 9-3. The road team has dominated this series winning seven of eight games. The Royals are undefeated in Atlantic City (3-0-0). Reading holds a 7-8-1 all-time versus the Bullies.

Tuesday, March 18 @ Cincinnati Roanoke Civic Center 7:05PM

GAME NOTES: The Royals got revenge for the worst loss in franchise history suffered on December 27, 2002. Reading jumped on top of the Cyclones 5-0 on goals by Duilio Grande, Steve Rymsha, Brian McCullough, Geoff Peters and Remi Royer. Brandon Snee was sparkling in net for Reading stopping 40 shots to get his first win in a Reading uniform.

Wednesday, March 19 @ Toledo Toledo Sports Arena 7:00PM

GAME NOTES: The Royals battled a tough Toledo team down to the wire, but came up just short losing 3-1. The Storm picked up two goals less than a minute apart midway through the third period to register their 26th win at home this season. Brandon Snee was outstanding in goal stopping 43 pucks for Reading.

Friday, March 21 vs. Trenton Sovereign Center 7:05PM

GAME NOTES: The Trenton Titans dominance over Reading continued in the Sovereign Center Friday night. Trenton knocked off Reading 3-1 to pick up their 15th victory in 20 tries in the all-time regular season series. Matt Zultek banged in the game winner a minute and a half into the final period...Adam Edinger scored an empty net goal for the Titans to finish the scoring.

Saturday, March 22 vs. Atlantic City Sovereign Center 7:05PM

GAME NOTES: The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies spoiled the Royals final home game this season with a 9-3 drubbing. The Bullies led 4-1 after two periods, but the Royals made a charge in the third period cutting the lead to 4-3. Atlantic City responded with five more goals, including a natural hat trick from Chris Paradise, to end the contest.

Peters picked up a point in three of the four games this week. He notched his third shorthanded goal of the season in the lone Royals win in Cincinnati. His three shorthanded tallies is second on the Royals squad.
