WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers dropped a tight game, 3-1, Friday night to the Elmira Jackals at WesBanco Arena. The two will square off for a rematch on Saturday night in Wheeling.

In a game marred by 21 minor penalties, Elmira scored the first goal of the game on a power play 4:23 into the second period. Frank Littlejohn's wrist shot caromed off a body in front of the goal and landed on the stick of Benoit Doucet for his fifth goal of the season.

Wheeling tied the game just as an Elmira penalty had expired at 17:09 of the second. Joe Jensen and Ned Havern each had a chance from short range but Joel Martin made the saves only to have Sean Collins slam home the rebound. His third goal of the season tied the game 1-1.

Elmira responded in a hurry. The Jackals raced down the ice following the goal and deposited one of their own just 7 seconds later. Doucet slid a pass across to Dan Kronick who scored his first goal of the season in his first game with the Jackals.

The Nailers attempts to tie the game were stopped by Martin, including Wheeling's power play for the final two minutes of the game. Martin stopped 21 shots while Martin Houle turned aside 36 in a losing effort.

Despite the amount of penalties called, the Jackals were 1-for-10 on the man advantage while the Nailers were 0-for7.

The puck drops on Saturday at 7:35pm between these same two opponents. The first 2,500 fans will receive Santa mini-bobbleheads courtesy of Jackson-Hewitt. Call 304-234-GOAL for more information or visit www.wheelingnailers.com.
