Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that goaltender Jon Quick has been assigned by the Monarchs to the Royals. In a separate transaction, goaltender Danny Taylor has been recalled to Manchester by the Monarchs.

Quick (6'1/200) (21), a third round selection of the Kings in 2005, started the season in Reading and played thirteen of the first fourteen games for the team (including the last twelve in a row), compiling a record of 7-5-1 with a 2.46 goals against average and a .907 save percentage-with one shutout and a goal. Quick, who played his college hockey at the University of Massachusetts (Amherst), was recalled to Manchester on November 19 and played three games for the Monarchs, going 1-1-1 with a 2.67 goals against and a .909 save percentage, before being recalled to the Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League. While with Los Angeles, Quick appeared in three games, winning his NHL debut 8-2 over the Buffalo Sabres on December 6, and sustaining losses in Chicago (December 12) and Dallas (December 13). Quick, who compiled a 3.85 goals against average and a .855 save percentage while with the Kings, was re-assigned to Manchester by Los Angeles on December 17 and has not appeared in a game for the Monarchs since that date. Taylor, who is 3-0-0 (2.64/.917) with the Royals this season, was assigned to Reading earlier this week by the Monarchs but did not appear in a game prior to being recalled today.

The Royals return to action tomorrow night (Saturday, December 22 at 7:05 pm) when the Dayton Bombers visit the Sovereign Center. The first 2000 fans that night receive an ice-scraper mitten courtesy of Capital BlueCross. The game day broadcast will begin at 6:35 pm with the pre-game warm-up show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Ephrata, as well as on the internet through the Royals' website, www.royalshockey.com. Streaming video is available on a pay per view basis through the B2 Networks.
