Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The ECHL announced today that Condors RW Todd Griffith has been selected to represent Bakersfield at the 2008 Chase Chevrolet ECHL All-Star Game.
Griffith, 22, was selected to the ECHL All-Rookie Team last season and also participated in the 2007 ECHL All-Star Game in Boise. After starting the season on the 30-day IR, the Welland, Ontario native has notched at least one point in nine consecutive contests, (dating back to Nov. 30) the longest streak on the team thus far this season. He has 6g-6a in 13 games on the year, including three power play goals.
Hosted by the Stockton Thunder and the City of Stockton at Stockton Arena, the 2008 Chase Chevrolet ECHL All-Star Game presented by Jackson Rancheria and Bud Light will be played on Jan. 23 with the 11th edition of the Chase Chevrolet ECHL All-Star Game Skills Competition being held on Jan. 22.
The starting lineups are determined in voting by National Conference coaches, team captains, media directors, broadcasters and media members. Coaches also submitted the top prospects from within their conference to determine the final roster with each of the nine teams having a representative.
There are 12 rookies on the National Conference and only four of the 21 players have ever been selected to an ECHL All-Star Game.
The Condors face off against the Stockton Thunder on the road tonight at 7:30pm. All Condors games can be heard live on KGEO AM 1230 with the "Voice of the Condors" Kevin Bartl. Fans can also listen online with free audio streaming through www.bakersfieldcondors.com or view through B2 Networks.
They return home on Friday, Dec. 29 against the Thunder at a special 8pm start. That night, the first 2,000 fans 17 or older will receive a bronze statue of Condors great Paul Rosebush. His familiar #17 will also be retired that night. For ticket information contact the Condors office at 324-PUCK (7825) or log on to www.bakersfieldcondors.com.
