
Inferno defeat Everblades

ESTERO, F.L. (December 21, 2007) - The Columbia Inferno defeated the Florida Everblades 3-2 as they improve their record to 11-11-6 in the South Division.
After a scoreless first period, Florida was on the board first with a shorthanded goal at 6:19 of the second period. Anthony Battaglia scored thirty second later on the power play with help from Donny Grover and Tyler Doig to tie the game at one a piece. Patrick Wellar netted his sixth goal of the season at 14:46 on the power play with assists to Battaglia and Peter Tsimikalis.
At the 1:39 mark of the third period, Daniel Sparre scored his 14th goal of the season on an unassisted goal to give the Inferno a 3-1 lead. Flroida battled back as Melanson scored at 10:07 to bring the Everblades back to within one goal.
Todd Ford stopped 25 of 27 shots on goal to earn his ninth win of the year and improve his record to 9-5-3-1. The Inferno outshot the Everblades 30-27 and was 2-for-4 on the power play.
Columbia will play the Everblades in a rematch on Saturday, December 22nd at 7:35pm before their holiday break. The Inferno return to the Carolina Coliseum on Friday, Dec. 28 to host the Charlotte Checkers at 1:05 p.m. The American Red Cross will be sponsoring a blood drive on the concourse; fans can pre-register by visiting givelife.org.
