Cyclones Split Weekend Series with Ohio Rivals

The Clones split an all-Ohio weekend series after beating Toledo 5-1 and losing to Dayton 5-2 over the weekend. On Friday in Toledo, Garrett Prosofsky recorded the team's first hat trick of 2003-04. Prosofsky also scored the team's first shorthanded goal of the season in the first period at Toledo.

Friday, October 31-Cyclones 5 at Toledo 1: The Clones put a scare into the home crowd on Halloween night in Toledo. The Clones handed the Storm their worst loss of the season in the teams' first match-up in Toledo this year. Garrett Prosofsky and Mike Casselman each struck shorthanded in the first period to give the Clones a 2-1 lead. Mark Concannon added an even strength marker with 27 seconds left in the first period to give the Clones a 3-1 lead at the first intermission. Garrett Prosofsky added goals in the second and third period to record the Clones' first hat trick of the season. Prosofsky became the eighth ECHL player to record a hat trick this season.

Saturday, November 1-Cyclones 2 at Dayton 5: The Bombers beat the Clones for the first time this season. Dayton jumped in front on Jade Galbraith's first goal as a Bomber. In the second period with the Clones trailing 2-0, Jason Norrie tipped home Prosofsky's point shot on the power play to cut the Dayton lead in half. The Clones would not get any closer as the Bombers scored twice more to open up a 4-1 lead. Fraser Clair continued to be a Bomber killer as he scored on a Clones power play in the third period. An empty netter by Dayton's Jason Deskins set the final score at 5-2.

This Week

Wednesday, November 5-Wheeling at Cincinnati: The Clones host the Wheeling Nailers in the teams' first meeting of the season. The Nailers enter the game as the second-best team in the Northern Division with a 5-1-1 record. The Nailers are led by superstar Jason Jaffray who is tied for third in the ECHL with 12 points (6g, 6a) in seven games played. Jaffray was the ECHL Rookie of the Year last season with the Roanoke Express.

Friday, November 7 & Saturday, November 8-Cincinnati at Idaho: The Clones make their second-longest road trip of the year to face the Idaho Steelheads at the Bank of America Centre in Boise. The Steelheads are 5-5-0 this season. Idaho is led by Jan Kopecky. Through 10 games, Kopecky has 10 points on four goals and six assists. Idaho goaltender Blair Allision is tied for third in the ECHL with a 1.50 goals against average. Allison's .934 save percentage is tied for fourth best in the league.

Clones to Watch

-Garrett Prosofsky is the Clones' nominee for player of the week after recording five points (3g, 2a) in two games over the weekend.

-Randy Petruk is fifth amongst ECHL goalies with 363 minutes played. Petruk 's 2.48 goals against average ranks 19th in the league.

-Jeff Worlton is tied for the ECHL lead with five major penalties.
