November 3, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Dayton Bombers News Release

The Dayton Bombers erased their 0-3 start with three straight wins against divisional foes during a "three games-in-three days sequence" this past weekend. The Bombers will get set to face the Wheeling Nailers on Sunday, November 9 (6:00 p.m.) in their only game within the next week. Below is a recap of this past weekend's wins:

10/31/03- BOMBERS 4 @ Johnstown 1

Bujar Amidovski (pronounced BOO-yahr Am-ih-DOV-skee), a two-time ECHL All-Star making his second start of the season, made 29 saves and Brad Ralph scored twice to lead the Dayton Bombers to a 4-1 Halloween night win over the Johnstown Chiefs (Cambria County War Memorial in Johnstown, PA), the Bombers' first victory of 2003-2004 and the first coaching win in the professional career of Head Coach Jamie Ling. Amidovski, whose nickname is "BOO," made 11 saves in the first and second periods. In the middle frame, he denied defenseman Pierre-Luc Courchesne on a power-play chance at 6:21. At the 13:00 mark, he stopped forward Brent Kelly on a point blank scoring opportunity. Brad Ralph gave the Bombers a 1-0 lead at 4:47 of the first period with his first goal of the season. Defenseman Jason Crain intercepted the Chiefs' clearing attempt and sent a shot on goal that was deflected past goalie David Currie by Ralph. Jason Deskins upped the Bombers' lead to 2-0 at 15:04 when he stole the puck in the Chiefs' zone, then deked Currie before slipping the puck past him. Deskins recorded his second short-handed goal of the season- both against Johnstown- on the play. With the Bombers clinging to a 2-1 lead in the third, Richard Naumann caused a turnover behind the Johnstown net, then set up Ralph for his second goal at 6:37. Chad Theuer added the Bombers' final goal at 12:04, set up by Chris Heisten and Martin Paquet.

11/01/03- Cincinnati 2 @ BOMBERS 5

Newcomer Jade Galbraith (G,A), Riley Cote (G,A), and Chad Theuer (2 A), each recorded two points as the Dayton Bombers topped the Cincinnati Cyclones 5-2 at the Ervin J. Nutter Center Saturday night. The Bombers clung to a 2-1 lead in the third period but pulled away on the strength of goals by Cote and Lance Galbraith. Cote streaked into the Cyclones' zone and received a pass from Chad Theuer before slipping a shot past goaltender Randy Petruk at 8:25 to give the Bombers a 3-1 edge. Lance Galbraith deflected Olivier Proulx's right-circle shot into the net at 15:05 to stake the Bombers to a 4-1 lead. After Cincinnati's Fraser Clair tallied on the power play at 16:39, the Bombers' Jason Deskins added an empty net, insurance goal from an acute angle at 19:28 of the third period. Just as they did Friday night in Johnstown en route to a 4-1 win, the Bombers scored the game's first two goals. Jade Galbraith notched his first goal in just his second game as a Bomber at the 1:13 mark of the first period, with assists from Theuer and Cote. Brad Ralph punched a rebound off a Michael Chin shot past Petruk at 5:11 of the second to give the Bombers a 2-0 lead. Jason Norrie of Cincinnati made it 2-1 on a power play, deflection score at 16:53. Bujar Amidovski recorded the win for the second time in as many nights for the Bombers, stopping 20 of 22 Cincinnati shots.

11/02/03- Toledo 2 @ BOMBERS 3

Jason Deskins' power play goal, his sixth score in six games, turned out to be the game-winner as the Dayton Bombers capped a three games-in-three days sequence with their third consecutive win, a 3-2 defeat of the Toledo Storm at the Ervin J. Nutter Center Sunday evening. Deskins, who also scored in the Bombers' Friday and Saturday victories, gave the Bombers a 3-1 lead with 12 minutes remaining in the second period. With the Bombers buzzing around the Toledo net, Olivier Proulx found Deskins along the end boards. Deskins pushed the puck in front, then sent a back-hander past goalie Drew MacIntyre. Deskins has recorded at least a point in all six Bombers' games (The Bombers' record is 3-3). The Bombers actually trailed 1-0 when Alexander Jacques scored the first of his two goals 10:09 into the first period, but Jade Galbraith quickly answered, deking a Toledo defender, then beat MacIntyre at 12:22. Michael Chin scored his first goal as a Bomber at 5:33 of the second period to give the team a 2-1 lead. His slap shot from the right circle went of a Toledo defender and then eluded MacIntyre. The Bombers outshot Toledo 35-20. Rookie Andrew Penner made 18 saves to record his first professional win.

COTE RECALLED TO SYRACUSE: Yesterday, the Syracuse Crunch, the Bombers' AHL (American Hockey League), recalled left wing Riley Cote from the Bombers. Cote, 21, appeared in five games with the Bombers this season, recording one goal, one assist and 35 penalty minutes. A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Syracuse signed Cote as a free agent this off-season. Cote made his debut yesterday, wearing number 19, when the Crunch visited the Chicago Wolves. Syracuse won 4-3. Cote is the third Bombers' player to have been recalled to Syracuse this season. He joins a list that includes defenseman Sean Connolly and forward Janne Jokila.
